Today I found a mac pro from 2013 for _very_ cheap. I always dreamed of owning this computer since it came out in 2013, and finally owning one got me very excited (especially for such a low price! am I the only one that gets very excited about great deals?).

One advantage of this machine is that it has a ton of RAM which enables me to do something else that I wanted to try out: running a large language model locally. So I loaded a couple of versions of DeepSeek R1 on it, and ta-da just like that I have a local gpt running on my mac.
