Exactly what it is. This play is unfamiliar to many folks in very high-trust, family-oriented areas in the U.S. (such as the South and Midwest) because they could not imagine someone with such nefarious intentions coming into a church to take it over.

They would never do something like this because they're genuinely good people. Thus, it's hard for them to see this type of play being run when it is. It's just too wicked to believe.

Greear and his compatriots are preying on God's people--genuinely good people who want to be open-minded about modernization changes in the church.

The problem is that the church doesn't need to become modern, efficient, or business-like. God designed it to be local, specific, and extremely oriented toward meeting the physical and spiritual need of the people in their community in tangible ways for the sake of sharing the Gospel and winning souls to Christ.

The primary role of the church is to glorify God by the edification and sanctification of the body. The second or third role of the church is seeking the salvation of the community.

Greear's model flips this on its head and makes the role of the church primarily about making everyone feel welcome and growing the number of people sitting in the church (not necessarily about growing membership or the number of committed attenders).

When this becomes the new goal, he can achieve his goal of whitewashing the church and removing all its cultural history. If anyone challenges him on it, he just says "we want to reach people, grow the church, and remove any obstacles to their coming to church."

This clashes with a man's desire to be the head of his woman where she respects his leadership.

American churches will not acknowledge the plight of single white men or married white men.

This is part of the downfall of American churches. If you lose the men, you lose the entire legacy of the church. It can consist for a while on female norms but not in the longterm. It will slowly crumble and die.

Churches need to wake up and speak boldly about the realities that affect men. Ignoring this is part of why the church has become so irrelevant to men.

Hey man, that's honestly a decent price for all that.
If you want to just have them do the tires which are hard to manufacture at home, you could do that for $500 or so.

Then, replace the rotors and pads, flush the brake fluid yourself. Can do that for maybe $300. Best area to save as shops charge between $600-900 for brakes.

Alignments are tough to do at home unless you resort to redneck methods.

Red-blooded Christian men have been silently run out of churches.

I've talked to countless men who no longer attend church. Why not? Vague answers about how they don't see the value or "it's not for me" or "I had a bad experience."

If I walk into a normal, evangelical church today as a regular testosterone white man who is interested in the classic three topics:

1. Sex and how to get more of it.
2. Money and business: how to build businesses that print money to create a legacy and inheritance
3. Physical strength and competence

+ Bonus #4 masculine skills in building, fixing, troubleshooting etc.

What will the church actually do to address these interests?

Will I be discipled in them?
Will I be pointed to worthy outlets for them?
Will I be corrected and disciplined when these desires go astray?

If the American church wants to get red-blooded men back, they need to start answering these questions and do so with courage and conviction.

Great post. The church growth movement fails to distinguish between positive and negative types of growth. To them, all growth is good. But cancerous growth isn't beneficial. It's like the seed that fell in shallow soil from the parable of the shower: shoot's up quickly but just as soon dies for lack of deep soil.

92% of communication is nonverbal, men.

If you can keep your mouth shut and master the nonverbals, you can create the conditions to thrive socially and relationally.

A feminized world teaches that it's all about the words you say. Why? Because women are heavily verbal.

If men rely on heavily on words over body language, they subtly slip into a feminine frame of operating.

Start mastering the nonverbals so that you have a chance to win before you even speak.

- Stand up straight, walk at a measured pace. Not super slow or rushed.

- Do not scurry around like an animal. Walk with dignity.

- When someone is speaking, look at them and nod along. Don't stare like a robot or look way like a squirrel-brained ADHD kid.

- When you disagree, do so silently or clearly, not half-assed.

- Shake hands firmly, not limp. Shaking women's hands is polite but optional. Women are more concerned about how you treat them than whether you shake their hand when you walk in.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

What if the church had the stones to talk about porn openly, honestly, and with courage?

What if we addressed the powerlessness that modern men feel?

Modern men are interested in things that modern Christians simply don't want to or know how to talk about:

1. Sex and how to get more of it.
2. Money and business: how to build successful businesses that print money so we can build a legacy and inheritance.
3. Physical fitness and strength: how do we get strong.

And my #4 - Real world competence - learning real world skills that matter: fixing, building, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and designing.

I encourage church leaders to take these things seriously. Let's embrace a broad scope of discipleship and teaching. It's all of Christ for all of life, or it's chaos.
