The clock tick-tocks relentlessly and stops for none. Even your superheroes would one day walk into the sunset of their careers. MS Dhoni has certainly been a superhero for many. But as he celebrates his 42nd birthday, it is fair to say he is at the fag end of his illustrious career. So, it is perhaps time to recollect a trail of early memories from when Dhoni was known more as a ticket collector than a trophy winner.

The year was 2002. Newspapers were very much in vogue, and for a cricket aficionado, ‘brief scores’ were still a source of information to keep in touch with some of the domestic matches going on across the country. In November that year, Karnataka were taking on Bihar in a Ranji game in Ranchi, with Dhoni being part of the Bihar side. That Dhoni was representing Bihar and not Jharkhand gives enough clues that the match took place many seasons ago.

From the beginning, the result of the match seemed like a foregone conclusion. After all, Bihar were taking on multiple Ranji winners, Karnataka. For long periods, going by the brief scores, the match panned out according to early predictions. But in Bihar’s second innings, a wicketkeeper-bat from Bihar blazed his way to an 87-ball 93. Yes, it was Dhoni. There are no visuals from that game. All you have is a recollection of a scorecard. If a biography is written on Dhoni, that innings may not even be a footnote. But, a few years later, when Dhoni became an icon of Indian cricket, a certain brief score kept reverberating in the mind.

The quick-fire hundred against Central Zone in January 2004 is well-chronicled in the annals of Indian cricket. Although, once again, there are no visuals from that game. Yes, there are a few stories surrounding that knock, and you would perhaps get an archived photo of Dhoni flicking a delivery around the corner, with Naman Ojha, the wicket-keeper, and Syed Abbas Ali, former Madhya Pradesh batter, keenly keeping an eye on the direction of the ball.

One of my favourite details in #Dhurandhar2 comes during the negotiation scene in the Climax.

Ajay Sanyal says, “One of my boys is with you.” So here most of us take it as him talking about Jaskirat but at the same exact moment, he was holding a small Child in his lap. So while he’s talking about one “boy” on the phone, he’s holding another in his arms because Jaskirat isn’t his real son, but he’s still one of his boys like someone he trained, sent into danger, and feels responsible for bringing back safely 🔥

And then comes another beautiful detail where once the situation is under control, Ajay quietly hands the child back to his mother !! It almost feels symbolic—the child returns to his mother, and at the same time Jaskirat is returning to his motherland, Bharat🇮🇳🙏🏻

At 1st glance, this list looks highly confusing. Why on earth would the Ministry of Health issue a hard chemical ban on basic things like Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil & Vitamin E alongside heavy antibiotics & painkillers?

If we look closely at numbers 5 through 16 on this list. They are all skin creams/lotions/anti-acne gels combining Aloe Vera, Tea Tree Oil & Vitamin E.

In our country, if a company wants to launch a new single-ingredient drug/a standard pharmaceutical cream, they have to go through multi-year central approvals (rigorous + expensive) with the DCGI (Drugs Controller General of India).

However, for decades, state-level licensing authorities had lax boundaries on what is called a Fixed-Dose Combination. If a pharma company mixed a standard chemical with a natural base like Aloe Vera/Jojoba Oil, they could register it as a unique proprietary new combination at the state level, completely bypassing central safety scrutiny & clinical validation.

A few might think our govt banned Aloe Vera. In reality, they banned these unscientific, uncharacterized commercial mixtures because companies could not provide peer-reviewed data proving that mixing these exact % of oils actually did anything therapeutic. They were essentially selling overpriced, unverified mixtures under the guise of approved medical formulations.
