@ManCityHelp we nominated a girl to to receive a free limited edition PUMA football and we got an email on 4/14 saying it should arrive shortly. It hasn’t arrived yet. I’m afraid it got lost. Any help please?
@earth_andrew Because you had to move from US to Brazil in the middle of the of the 1st one and did not want to give up on the 1st, so the only way to continue it was to enroll in the 2nd one - and you did not want to give up on the 2nd either.
@DrCathD yep, unfortunately we (researchers living and conducting studies in upper middle income countrys) have to deal with it many times. sometimes reviewers said we need to use "good translation services" (from Journals) even when Native English speakers had translated our paper.
The paper didn't even get sent out for review. I really try to believe better of high-income country editorial boards, but this just confirms their bias. How naive of us to think that an international journal would publish international research from Africa
I always think that the study of language and language development would look VERY different if the field was not dominated by (mostly) English-speaking (mostly) monolingual researchers.
@andmarstan@Lin_Manuel According to my 9yo the door disappeared because Mirabel wiped the magic out of her hands in her dress before touching the door knob.
I know we often rag on academia and the whole PhD process, but I just want to take the time to express my gratitude and thankfulness to a journey that made me Dr, opened up doors I couldn’t even dream of accessing, and allowed me to meet so many great people and dope scientists.
