“I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational.” -Charlie Kirk

Happy Oscars day? Well, No! Today is actually the 18-year anniversary of Tashi’s career-ending injury AND her breakup with Patrick… and to make things worse, Challengers got ZERO noms. This is actually a day of tragedy for Challengers enjoyers. We are in mourning.
@AGoldmund I work in the South Bronx. I take the subway there five days a week. I’ve never once feared for my life. The way these people want to justify murder is terrifying.
@AshleyPhoenixxx@CanadianHistor2@meganysta@Eddie_Gravity@torontolibrary Tbh I don’t think we have enough details for this specific scenario. If a kid was crying in my library I would do my best to stop them from leaving until we had a solution. But if they want to leave I can’t stop them.
@AshleyPhoenixxx@CanadianHistor2@meganysta@Eddie_Gravity@torontolibrary It’s possible they aren’t allowed. What if she gave the number of a parent who didn’t have custody? Then they’re in legal trouble. And we def can’t hand over our personal phones. I just think it’s wrong to assume the staff member was just being mean when rules can be so strict.
@CanadianHistor2@meganysta@Eddie_Gravity@torontolibrary Is TPL part of the GTA system? Because that’s not universal policy. In my system no one can use our phones regardless of circumstances. We’d have to get the parent’s number and call ourselves.
@hoodnymph That is horrible! I think some libraries are getting better about this? @nypl will let you get a limited check out card without ID or anything, hopefully more libraries will adopt similar options!
I wish that people who say libraries don't matter anymore could take a tour of ours right now. All of our computers are full, and the tables are full of people studying, while grandparents read Mo Willems book in the children's department. We haven't even been open an hour.
The idea that librarians spend all their time telling children to shush is an unflattering, outdated, and severe stereotype. We actually spend all our time telling children to stop running.
"Twitter is my diary!!!"
No. It isn't. Twitter is a public website owned by a sociopath and everything you publish here is not only public record, but at risk of being utilised by the worst kind of people. Think before you fucking speak.
Eric Adams leads with corruption and mismanagement. 15+ of his associates are now under investigation. If his track record of cutting critical services and empowering NYPD abuse didn’t make it clear: Eric Adams is unfit to govern. NY deserves better. It’s time for him to resign.
@disasterhomo It’s still there, it just gets less play maybe? Andrew Joseph White writes incredible gore, and Sajni Patel tackled violence against women in A Drop of Venom.
"I’m not anti-Semitic at all, but I am anti-Zionist. I don’t believe they have the right, after 3,000 years, to reclaim the land with western bombs and guns on biblical injunction."
Remembering James Baldwin, who was born on this day in 1924.
