@RepFine The fact is that the territory that Britain called Palestine was never British. The League of Nations placed Britain as the custodian of the territory, in order to establish Israel. That land also included Jordan & the West Bank. UK caved into Arab terror which ended it.
@AnwarGargash Assuming that this story is true, is it not disingenuous that on the one hand the UAE welcomes Jews as being indigenous to Judaea and Samaria-a/k/a the West Bank, and yet it denies the Jews the right to control its historic territory.
@elonmusk BTW: Similar tactics utilising vitriol were employed successfully against the RSA, but much of the coverage in the West was anything but objective. The sad result is apparent for all to see. Even Helen Suzman of the Progs altered her opinions.
@elonmusk Unfortunately the person interviewed expresses views that are anti-American as well as anti-Israel. The fact that he is Jewish does NOT immunise him from scapegoating. If this was 1933 one could imagine Reichpropagandaminister Goebbels being interviewed.
@havivrettiggur Interesting that the language utilised is Yiddish and NOT Hebrew. That says it all. Yiddish was the socialist language of the Bund and permitted in the USSR and Hebrew was Verboten because it was the language of the religious and Zionists.
@elonmusk Could one say that the Western campaign against the RSA, amongst other allies past and present, contributes today to the skeptical attitude of those who challenge the legitimacy of the US-led rules based order?
@CarolineGlick all of the institutions of a democratic state had already existed. There was schools, farms, tax collectors, militias and democratic institutions whilst the Arab population relied upon the British.
@CarolineGlick despite the faults of Israel's Founders, they trusted the Jewish people to maintain their Democratic character, that was enshrined already since King David and the Sanhedrin, and continued at the time of the second Yishuv, long before the creation of the State.
@CarolineGlick Therefore, all of this talk about checks and balances is properly assigned to discuss the United States because it is a constitutional republic whilst Israel is the purest form of democracy.
@CarolineGlick there is also one other BIG difference. Though the parliamentary system has been in place in the UK for centuries, only in 2009 did parliament create a Supreme Court. Another difference is Parliament is Sovereign in the UK but not in Israel.
@CarolineGlick The US is a Republic because the founders did not trust the American people. Israel is even more democratic than England. The whole country is one big election district and you vote for the party not a person who represents your district as in the UK.
@CarolineGlick Now when you think of modern democratic States, which is the first one to come to mind? If you said England, you would be correct. England like Israel does not have a written Constitution. Furthermore, both countries are democracies. The US by contrast?
