First BIMSTEC Home Ministers’ Meeting is on in New Delhi today.
@AmitShah is in the chair. Agenda is terrorism, narcotics, trafficking, illicit finance and cyber threats. Seven members around the Bay of Bengal: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand.
@HMOIndia message from the room was blunt. Criminal networks already use encrypted apps, drones, crypto and the dark web. Real-time intelligence sharing is the fix, not another long communique. Shah also backed a BIMSTEC national security database and information-sharing centre. He asked for extradition cooperation and a common protocol on trafficking and cyber slavery. On narcotics he pushed a whole-of-region approach, not one-country fixes.
Why India cares. The Bay of Bengal is our near seas. Drugs, radicalisation and trafficking ride the same lanes as trade. SAARC still sits on paper. @BIMSTEC is where Delhi puts real bandwidth.
My bet: the joint readout locks a dated workplan for that security database and nodal intel channels by Budget 2027. Not a shiny new treaty. Watch for coastal security and maritime domain awareness language in the follow-up papers. That is the deliverable that matters.

Hall and Woodford's New Keynesian models sit behind inflation targeting.
India's version came in 2016. RBI Act amended, 6-member MPC, CPI target 4% with a 2-6% band.
Use it as the example in monetary policy answers.

@TheAnuragTyagi Yes. The format should keep changing though.
Article 315 makes a Public Service Commission mandatory. A neutral merit recruiter keeps patronage out of the bureaucracy.
The format has changed before. CSAT came in 2011, the Mains revamp in 2013.

@UPSCprepIAS What breaks it: stop collecting, start testing.
Pick one subject. Finish its NCERT in a week.
Then solve that subject's last 10 years of Prelims PYQs before you buy a second book.

@PMOIndia's line at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Delhi: Power to Empower.
What India is selling to the room is not optics. Reliability when the world is jumpy. Mint reported Modi citing about 7.8% growth, forex reserves above $700 billion, and a stronger banking system.
The useful test for aspirants and markets is the same: does tech and data create jobs and cheaper services for millions, or stay with a few platforms?
Watch for more FDI and supply-chain pitches in AI, energy and manufacturing through this three-day forum (13–15 Oct).

@i3masterminds The pattern in first-attempt CAPF stories is rarely more hours. It's a non-negotiable physical block every day, then one GS subject with a hard stop.

Quick map pin for Prelims: Metina is in northern Iraq, Duhok side of the Kurdistan Region, near the Turkey border.
This week PKK evacuated 4 bases/tunnels there (Anadolu/TRT, Oct 2026).
Mains GS2 angle: Turkey–Iraq border security plus the ongoing peace/disarmament process.

@ayusshsanghi I'd add climate and energy as a proper GS block, not a side note in Environment.
If I had to cut something, I'd thin the static Economy lists that already sit in GS3.
Keep Ethics. Interview tests character. GS4 teaches how to write it.

@IndicNomad2024 The bits UPSC likes to twist:
Sawai Jai Singh II built five, in Delhi, Jaipur, Ujjain, Varanasi and Mathura. Mathura's is gone.
Only Jaipur's is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (2010). Its Samrat Yantra is the world's largest stone sundial.

A Prelims detail to add: the 7 engines came in Budget 2022-23. Roads, railways, airports, ports, mass transport, waterways, logistics infra.
The GIS platform is built by BISAG-N, Gandhinagar.
For Mains, pair it with the National Logistics Policy, 2022.

Good pick, since it hits GS3 and GS2 together.
One process line worth writing: the state declares drought under the Drought Manual, sends a memorandum, a central team visits, then a high-level committee under the Home Minister clears NDRF aid.

A big psyop on Indians is going on to destroy India's relationship with friendly and partner countries. Understand it, don't fall for it.
My view is that the same DS ecosystem that is seeding hate against India and Indians in the US, and instigating the racists there, is also the one now creating a narrative that Russian bot farms are the ones doing the hate against India online.
The idea is to make Indians hate every country they are a partner with. Create people to people issues between India and partner countries. Weaken relationships. Ruin Indian opportunities in those countries. Now, they have roped in very influential agents, controlled using their business interests, for the same purpose.
Understand the playbook.
Most Russians are very friendly towards India. Much more than Americans or Europeans. The comments and hate you may see from so-called Russians online do not represent Russia, and many of them are fake Russian named accounts. The operation now is to drive a wedge between Russia and India.
The same goes for the US too. I know Americans well. Many MAGA voters are my friends. The hate and racism we see in the US recently was seeded, fanned, and racists among Americans were instigated to go specifically after Indians by this DS network.
The anti-India hate operation run on US social media is to create animosity between peoples of the two democracies, influence govt policies, and our strategic hit partnerships.
The same operation is being carried out in partner countries like the UAE, France, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, you name it.
The racism and hate against India is seeded first on their social media, the few racists among them are instigated, then the hate is made organic in their social discourse to specifically target India and Indians. This is to generate organic animosity and destroy opportunities for India and Indians by shaping govt policies.
Whichever country India has a good relationship with, they are doing the same operation in those countries.
So do not fall for this nonsense propaganda you will see seeded in a big way that 'Russia was running bot farms against India and Indians.' It is all being done by the same deep state network ruining India's relationships with partner countries.
I urge @MEAIndia@MOS_MEA@DrSJaishankar to please make this a point of discussion with partner countries, be it Russia or Japan or Singapore. Or wherever this anti-India hate operation is being carried out via social media to hurt India's interests. Urge them to take steps to control it so people to people ties are not affected.
