I’m deeply grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me, and I’m optimistic about what comes next.

As the Republican nominee for Governor, my immediate priorities are clear:

Deliver real tax relief
Raise literacy across Oklahoma
Protect Oklahoma land from hostile foreign ownership

I also want to set the record straight on two important issues.

First, our firefighters, police officers, state troopers and other public servants deserve certainty about their pensions. I have never supported, and will never support, replacing their defined benefit plans with a 401(k)-style system. I worked to help rescue Oklahoma’s pension systems before, and I will protect them as Governor.

Second, on the proposed aluminum plant, Oklahoma’s interests must come first.

That means a thorough EPA and Oklahoma DEQ review, independent third-party validation, continuous emissions monitoring, yearly testing of surrounding soil, hay, water and wildlife, and requiring technology capable of driving fluoride emissions down to .45 pounds per ton of aluminum produced.

Just as important, we are researching an insurance or bonding mechanism that would protect nearby property owners if the plant’s operations fail to meet the standards we require. If something goes wrong, Oklahoma families and landowners should not be left holding the bag.

We are also evaluating additional technologies, including approaches being used internationally, that could reduce emissions even further.

Economic growth and environmental responsibility are not mutually exclusive. We can create jobs, protect taxpayers, defend property owners and keep Oklahoma’s land, air and water safe.

Oklahoma’s next chapter can be our greatest yet. Now, it’s time to get to work.

Navy SEAL Senior Chief Mike Day was the first man through the door on a raid against an al-Qaeda cell in Iraq’s Anbar Province on April 6, 2007.

The moment he stepped inside, they opened fire at point-blank range. His rifle was shot out of his hands. He transitioned to his pistol and kept fighting.

A grenade detonated near him, knocking him unconscious and filling him with shrapnel. When he came to, he finished the fight. killing the remaining enemy in the room.

Then he walked himself to the medevac helicopter.

No assistance. Just pure will and training.

For that night he was awarded the Silver Star.

Mike Day survived the unimaginable. He later wrote about resilience in his book Perfectly Wounded. But the invisible wounds of war followed him, and he died by suicide in 2023.
