The guy squirting water into Zach Ertz’s mouth is Joe O’Pella. He’s an athletic trainer that’s been with the team for over 15 years at this point.
NFL teams don’t really have water boys, athletic trainers are usually the ones responsible for having water on the practice field and during games, but this post is absolutely hilarious.
A guy who rehabbed my ACL tear in my second year, has a masters degree from Pitt, and has years of experience keeping Eagles players healthy and on the field being called a “Waterboy” is crazy, and I’m already giving him shit for it, but good lord this post is so wildly misleading.
Either way, thought I’d clear the air, that the people with Water Bottles during games actually serve much bigger roles on NFL Teams.
I’ve seen a number of accounts, some school accounts likely run by young people and other young journalists, who report losing scores first.
The proper way to list a score is the winning score first every single time. Your team did not lose 68-75. They lost 75-68.
Thank you.

Lesson to be learned here with the @IHSA_IL football situation...
By-laws that do not protect the health and safety of student-athletes should not be allowed to be placed on the ballot.
The Legislative Commissioners who voted yes to put the original football proposal of only 10 practices on the ballot, should have been the oversight needed in this situation.
They knew exactly what they were doing, and did it anyway...
Congratulations to @ibcacoaches HOF Coach Jeff Krumwiede on having the Carrollton gym named in his honor tonight. A well deserved tribute to a tremendous coach.
@PBL_Football@Coach_Clod@WIVCFootball SMAC is here for a reason, believe it or not, and their guidance (which is expert, science based guidance) was ignored so that conferences could have stability. Kids’ lives are more at risk in exchange for conference stability. That’s the trade off
@Coach_Clod@PBL_Football@WIVCFootball As do I. I’m still trying to find people who voted FOR this change. They are quiet. Unfortunately in a democracy uneducated voters still have a voice. Yes that is why we are in this predicament.
@PBL_Football@WIVCFootball Acclimatization has to protect the most vulnerable kid, which is the one that shows up day 1 of practice and wasn’t there all summer. Summer practice cannot be required for athletes. So everyone starts on day 1 of in season practice together
@AWTitanTrack@ViewFromWestPod@HeyItsGregA@WIVCFootball@NUICFootball@IL_FB_Project Hello sir. SMAC never said it would be safer to practice more. In fact, SMAC was against the entire proposal to begin with. Either situation is bad. A) less days to acclimatize or B) extend the season
SMAC wanted is to stay within science-backed min of practices before 1st game
The Sports Medicine Advisory Committee advised against such a proposal multiple times, for an extended period of time but were seemingly ignored. Please consider this when it seems easy to lay the blame on a very qualified group of professionals
IHSA SMAC meeting minutes showing multiple concerns before the initial
vote in fall of 2025. Also blurb from fall of 2024 showing initial concerns of football expansion. It’s my belief people knew the concerns they didn’t want to listen. #ihsa#football
