The April 12-22 time frame looks anomalously active from a severe weather standpoint.
There’s even a chance it becomes hyperactive.
The Southern Plains have the greatest severe weather risk, especially Texas and Oklahoma.
Here’s what we know right now:
On March 17, 2026, at approximately 11:38 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a call for service on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge regarding a woman who appeared to be in distress.
When officers arrived, they found the woman sitting on the side of the bridge, about to jump into the river below. The officers began speaking to the woman, and called for a RIGHT Care team, as well as a swift water rescue team from Dallas Fire-Rescue.
The first responders continued talking with the woman for over an hour, keeping physical contact with her until she finally chose to stand up and step back over onto the bridge. The officers immediately embraced her and took her to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
The immediate response by these officers, and the compassion and patience they showed, saved this young woman’s life.
This investigation is documented under case number 037481-2026.
