Kashiwagi Yuki reveals she experienced futoko (chronic school absenteeism) during her middle school years due to bullying.

As a child, she loved standing out throughout kindergarten and primary school. However, everything changed once she entered middle school. She realised she was surrounded by girls she considered prettier or better at dancing, making her feel she was nowhere near their level.

She also shared that classmates would say hurtful things to her such as "You’re lame" and "Your hair is really frizzy", causing her to gradually lose confidence.

Eventually, she chose to stop attending school. Instead, she spent most of her time at home surfing the internet from morning until late at night, researching idols and watching videos.

Amid those struggles, she began believing that becoming an idol might help her change herself. After auditioning for Morning Musume around five times, she eventually found her place in AKB48. Following a year spent convincing her parents to let her audition, she successfully joined the group as a 3rd Generation member.
