When I arrived at the venue , I saw these guys & thought they were journalists, so I gestured to them the side where the presser was going to be. Instead, they tried to drag me. Immediate, I realised they were "police". I alerted the journalists who took some time to grasp what I was trying to say. Eventually, I started to plough through my statement & these guys charged at us, me in particular. Torn being Promise & party Spokesperson, I restrained my instinct, kept calm, maintaining my range (as seen on this pic). Using my bigger frame, & stronger hands I pushed him off & retreated to the back as journalists & fellow Champions showed immense courage to confront & dissuade him from being in direct contact with me. At the time, our security team whisked me away, out of the venue & as we dashed to our standby cars, we were intercepted by a silver Mercedes Benz, Sedan. In it were two Gentlemen, one of the with the blue scotch shirt. I immediately recognised him as one of the guys that had tried to abduct me in front of cameras, we retreated together with the security team into one of the buildings around the vicinity (won't say which one). It was a short, intense movement, they gave us sanctuary & offered us water. I had lost my famous yellow jacket during the scuffle. Our security reinforcement teams had arrived and secured the venue. I returned, without a jacket, and with a white shirt that had turned brown to complete our press conference. Soon after completing the presser, we left the venue in movie style, breaking their chase at corner Mazowe & Tongogara. That was it, the world had got a glimpse of how rogue the regime we are dealing with is and I mentioned at the second half of the presser that if something like this could happen to our national leadership in the full glare of the international media & international Observer Missions what more could happen to someone in the isolated and remote corners of the country? It was a moment frozen in awe!
Let's retweet this guy till hes found out.
