I know it's not ideal, but I'm trying to migrate as much as possible over to a Mastodon as a back up.
You should be able to find me on @[email protected]
The farmers market is cool because farmers can skip the middleman and sell directly to you, saving a lot of money… which is why everything somehow costs five times more than it does at a normal grocery store.
Not using the official arch repos because AUR is a bit like not drinking water because you heard how dangerous sulfuric acid is... AUR is/has been fundamentally not fit for purpose for a very long time but the actual official repos get exactly the sort of vetting that'd stop this
I posted this a month ago. Today, Arch user repositories got massively hacked, over 1k packages.
This is your reminder that today, using package managers to automatically install and update software becomes technically illiterate.
Reduce your supply chain as much as you can.
@valigo Because if you do sufficiently interesting work, eventually you're running software that has 5 users, and you don't know the author. Your Distro has thousands of users and you follow the blog of the steering committee.
And even with the massive structural defect, the attack was discovered within 48 hours and shut down - because it's in a central location - it wouldn't be discovered if you were downloading software from random websites with no eyes on them.
@jammywho21 I was gonna tweet about this separately. It never once mentions a single one of the supposed 78 kids who were allegedly harmed, literally just says a bunch of pissed off transphobic parents were upset their kids made a fucking decision for themselves they didn't agree wiyh
announcing 4.8, our new model that 3x overthinks and doubles response fluff while reducing comprehension
announcing HTML instead of markdown, the format which is prettier for humans but uses 4x the tokens
announcing loops on top of loops, when you still haven’t optimized the last thing, so you will spend more tokens with the false hope of better results
@HopscotchJimmy@steviesmother It's a public event, not someone's living room. And would we be okay if an artist didn't allow wheelchairs into their 'experience', what about the Chinese?
@steviesmother We shouldn't be building inaccessible buildings without ramps, and we shouldn't be designing a society where diabetics have to beg for their phones.
@steviesmother We shouldn't be making society less accessible so that people who previously didn't need accommodations now need them. 'Accomodations' are an admittance that the underlying structure is flawed in a way that is to expensive to rectify, like a listed building.
I am deeply uncomfortable with the idea that disabled people have to out themselves, share their medical history and beg to be allowed their medical devices.
@tashabloombaby i’m not sure about the us shows but i know a few people have messaged uk venues and if you need your phone for medical reasons security will give you a wristband and you won’t have to put it in a pouch!

"Ey whatchu got for installers, boss"
"self extracting .run file, only works with 'buntu. specifically 20.04 LTS. If you update your system it breaks, annoying to uninstall later on."
"why not flatpak, boss?"
"that would require we pay someone to implement proper portals support in the application... and a yaml file"
@MichaelFKane I counter your point about how space is big by asking how far apart is the Jovian system is from the Sol system. Maybe it just isn't an interstellar distance.
The asteroid monster in Empire Strikes Back is an absurd plot point. Way out in space. On an asteroid. How does it survive? No water. No food. And no air - the hole is open.
Speaking of which - Han, Leia and Chewbacca go outside there and no vacuum of space.
@cooler241212 You can't pin system package versions with apt, you can with apk - which means you can't treat your docker images as reproduceable. Which is a problem because redundant base images are large enough to be expensive to keep around.
Okay, but compare that to modern Britain where the state's motto is if you won't: starve; if you can't: also die.
There is no 'we'll teach you' and guarenteed employment.
i grew up in the USSR and we were taught this in school literally. if you don’t work, you don’t eat it.
also, re work, “if you can’t, we’ll teach you - if you won’t, we’ll make you.”
soviet communism was work-obsessed to the point of fetishism, i would expect a bolshevik to know this.
