Glass is a true "permanent material"—it can be recycled indefinitely (100% closed-loop) without any loss in quality, purity, or performance. Unlike most materials, its chemical structure remains unchanged through repeated melting and reforming, allowing old bottles and jars to become brand-new high-quality containers forever.
This stands in stark contrast to plastic, which is far cheaper for companies to produce and transport (lighter weight means lower shipping costs, and raw material/energy inputs are generally lower). Yet this short-term savings comes at a steep environmental price: we're degrading ecosystems, landfills, and oceans to cut a few cents per unit.
Glass offers genuine sustainability advantages when recycled properly:
• Using cullet (recycled glass fragments) replaces virgin raw materials (sand, soda ash, limestone)—one tonne of cullet saves about 1.2 tonnes of new resources.
• It slashes energy use dramatically: every 10% increase in cullet reduces furnace energy needs by ~2.5–3%, and melting 100% cullet can cut energy by up to ~40% compared to virgin production.
• CO₂ emissions drop significantly—studies show ~580–670 kg saved per tonne of recycled glass (cradle-to-cradle), with up to 58–60% reduction when using high cullet percentages.
• Fewer raw material extractions mean less mining impact and habitat disruption.
The key to unlocking glass's full potential is clean, color-sorted collection. Mixed colors or contamination (from curbside debris, ceramics, or other recyclables) often downgrades glass to lower-value uses like fiberglass insulation or road aggregate instead of bottle-to-bottle recycling. Proper sorting—by color and purity—keeps it in the premium loop.
By improving recycling habits (rinsing containers, separating by color where possible, and supporting deposit-return systems), we can maximize glass's role in a true circular economy. It's one of the few packaging options that genuinely protects resources long-term—let's not sacrifice it for cheaper, disposable alternatives that harm the planet.
A day after euphoria-driven mayhem, Bangladeshi youth cleaned up around the national parliament, other major buildings and even helped manage traffic in the absence of police. Reflects the enormous confidence and hope in what they’ve just achieved.
The first instance is the Bihari genocide in 1971, carried out by the Awami League, and below is the mass student killing in 2024, again perpetrated by the Awami League. What a legacy indeed.
The Mawlanas in Bangladesh walked door to door and assured the safety of the Hindus, while providing them their contact numbers to contact in emergency.
This is Bangladesh which is like a family. Those who are spreading fake news should realize, they made the biggest mistake of their life by trusting the lies of Sheikh Hasina and BAL.
I repeat, Bangladesh is like a family.
We all are United ,
We all are one.
Our country is home to a diverse and harmonious blend of Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians. Let's stay united and support people of all faiths in our community.
Temples are a significant part of our nation's religious heritage. We, the youth, stand determined and ready to prevent any act of viloence against places of worship.
This is an outrageous propaganda by radical Hindutvawadis who align with Hasina. When an Awami goon, who happens to be Hindu, faces retaliation for their atrocities against the people, they project their Hindu identity. Hasina has killed more than 10 Hindu students during the first spell of protest, and a Hindu child was shot from a helicopter. I urge everyone to keep an eye on the Awami League's malicious tactics, which they have mastered well.
🇷🇺 Russia is banned from the Olympics for defending the Donbass from NATO-backed Ukrainian Nazis…
🇮🇱 But ISRAEL isn’t banned from the Olympics for BOMBING REFUGEE CAMPS?
Across multiple locations in Bangladesh, people were seen demolishing statues of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The @albd1971 , has long been centered around a cult of personality focused on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Revered as the nation's founding father who led Bangladesh to independence in 1971, Mujib's popularity soared in the immediate post-independence years. However, over time, his administration became marred by corruption and nepotism among party members and close relatives. In 1975, a too-confident Mujib established a one-party system, banning newspapers and dissolving opposition parties. This autocratic shift drastically eroded his public support and culminated in the tragic assassination of Mujib and his entire family.
Sheikh Hasina's government, which gained power for the second time in 2008, appears to have followed a similar trajectory. Her administration has been criticized for implementing the draconian Digital Security Act, abolishing the caretaker government system, and allowing unchecked corruption to spread, effectively creating a classic fiefdom. The opposition parties have been rendered almost non-existent, with hundreds of thousands of @bdbnp78 and @BJI_Official members imprisoned on what are widely considered to be false charges.
Hasina established total control under the guise of democracy, only to find herself facing a fate similar to the one she once dictated for others—forced to flee the country.
One of the greatest pains in my life in recent years was not being able to publicly disclose that the son of Mir Quasem Ali, the @BJI_Official leader who had been sentenced to death by the highly controversial International Crimes Tribunal set up by Hasina's regime, and Abdullahil Amaan Azmi, a former military general and the son of Ghulam Azam, former Jamaat-e-Islami chief who had been sentenced to life by the same court — are alive.
Both men were the worst victims of the nuisance that was enforced disappearance, introduced by the Sheikh Hasina regime. The two men were abducted by plainclothes policemen in August 2016 and were kept at a secret detention centre in Dhaka called #Aynaghar since then. They were never presented before the court and their families had no contact with them. Every time someone I knew spotted the two men in Aynaghar, which was located at the premises of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), Bangladesh's defence forces' intelligence branch, I would inform Mr Arman’s sister and Mr Azmi’s brother that they were alive. The last I heard of them was in May last year.
This morning, I woke up to the news that the two men had been reunited with their families after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government. How cruel do you have to be to detain these people for close to a decade needlessly? Endlessly. I truly believe that Sheikh Hasina will go down in the annals as one of the most brutal dictators of the modern era with Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, Kim Jong-il and Omar al-Bashir.
No country in the world should grant political asylum to such a person who has committed such atrocities, such grave crimes against humanity. She should be brought back to Bangladesh and brought to trial for all her crimes and treasons — fair and square.

@TrueIndology This is shameless propaganda against Bangladeshis. As a Bangladeshi, I know the people of all religion in Bangladesh lives in peace and harmony.
I request everyone to boycott these fascist groups and help stop them from spreading these evil propaganda.

Mr. Avi Shlaim, an Israeli historian:
“ It’s not a coincidence that the attacks on #UNRWA.
Israel is trying to discredit the International Court of Justice after the ICJ ruling.
That’s the whole story.
