The nominating convention where the final candidates are selected is a process controlled by the school system. Having the public school system administer the selection process for an official tasked with providing oversight of the school system is a conflict of interest. 3/3

The student member is not elected by voting age citizens. As a general principle, 11 year olds should not be able to select a voting member of the BOE. Furthermore, the SMOB nominating process is undemocratic and riddled with conflict of interest. 2/3
