Poignant moment with Paul Skenes of Team USA.
“I got a call from my friend from Air Force Academy. He said he’ll be watching 3am from where he is deployed. We’re just playing a game against people we know. What he is doing is heavy. I’m proud to represent them.”
College baseball is here.
Every Friday night in the SEC.
Every packed Saturday in the Big 12.
Every midweek war in the ACC.
Every dogfight in the Big West.
Every grind in D2.
Every chip on the shoulder battle in D3 and JUCO.
That was a high school player four years ago.
Read that again.
That arm in the SEC?
High school kid.
That grinder in the Big West?
High school kid.
That JUCO dude fighting for innings?
High school kid.
The jump isn’t magic.
It’s standard.
College baseball isn’t louder.
It’s faster.
Cleaner.
More intentional.
The infield doesn’t drift.
The dugout doesn’t sag.
The BP isn’t lazy.
The lifts aren’t optional.
Everything has tempo.
Everything has accountability.
If you’re a high school player saying,
“That’s gonna be me.”
Then your habits better look like it.
• Sprint on and off
• Early work without being asked
• Compete in every rep
• Lift like you’re chasing velocity
• Take ground balls like scouts are watching
Because here’s the truth:
Nobody in the SEC is “trying their best.”
Nobody in the ACC is waiting to be told.
Nobody in JUCO is casual about their opportunity.
They’re grown men about their work.
College baseball isn’t a dream.
It’s a standard.
And standards don’t turn on in February.
They start in high school.
