To make it in the western Diaspora you have to flip the script on all that you knew culturally from home. You have to look at your personal circumstances & tailor your life around what makes sense. For me, it was maximum comfort, minimum stress & maximum efficiency. I cook, I clean, I babysit...

I hate cleaning the house, so instead of making it a big deal, I invested in cleaning robots. I just turn them on and I do something else. Cooking is not a problem because I started staying alone when I was 15 so ndinokanga. When my mom and inlaws visited, I told them upfront that "musambo wasiyana". Mukwasha aitorova poto otherwise kunofiwa nezhara😅

My wife cuts the lawn sometimes. She gotta take kids to football and karate, clean the cars etc. Whoever has the time does something. A friend of mine when he came from Zim didn't even know that diapers have sizes. He learnt very fast that zvasiyana.

Your wife works as hard as you do. She gets tired too. There are no maids in this world so as men we gotta step up. To our advantage, there are many tools & instruments available to make some of the burden lighter. You can invest in slow cookers, grills, air fryers, leaf blowers etc

Finally, your family are your best friends. USA in particular understands this dynamic, that's why a lot of bars are kids friendly. Change from drinking with "friends" to drinking with family. You gotta get used to spending more time with your family but also make sure you have adult friends that also share the same vision of life as you.
