Easy solution...stop keeping the majority of sales taxes locally generated and keep it in the communities that earned it. Right now only 2% of the 8.25% is kept locally with Texas sweeping the rest into its surplus for pet projects like vouchers

I’m fighting this in my hometown of Smithville. Since 2017, the population has remained flat while the budget has increased 58%, city staff headcount is up 31% and personnel costs are up an explosive 85% .. all paid for with a 108% increase in property taxes to serve the same number of citizens.

Rs resisted EVERY single measure of pvt school outcomes so impossible to say "private school a better ROI for Texas taxpayer $$" Texas has Constitutional (and moral I'd say) to maximize educational outcomes for all kids

This was, unfortunately, the plan all along with #vouchers. $1B quickly becomes $2B and then $4B, all while public school funding shrinks or, at best, stays the same. Because Texas CANNOT AFFORD TO FUND THREE LANES OF EDUCATION. Rural public schools will take the first hit, and our local teachers, families, and rural communities will pay the price. This is our future if we don't decide to take a stand. Vote in Nov for Texas Public Schools.
