Leaders: every decision you make will upset, offend or anger someone. You cannot please everyone, you cannot avoid the conflict. Trying to do so guarantees failure.
Live your standard, communicate clearly and compassionately, earn commitment through trust, keep moving forward.
I completely understand why the #OpenDnD community wants @CriticalRole to say something about the proposed new OGL. I also understand why Critical Role may NOT say anything.
But it feels like a tipping point is coming.
Hey @Marketplace if you’re not aware of what’s going on in the world of DnD (the recent rise in more recent chaos), you might want to check out what’s happening! There’s a couple of stories worth of content there about corporations vs community and copyright fun! #OpenDnD
@planetmoney Any tips on the best way to search past episodes by topic? I'm trying to engage my economics students by finding resources that connect with their interests....regardless of what they say, there's a Planet Money episode that would work!- just a matter of finding it.
“Positivity feels ignorant”
Nailed it.
Some people tell me I’m being really negative…I really strive to operate in reality which, shocker!!!, isn’t always positive!!!!
@cultofpedagogy What’s weird is I feel like my admin cares, parents are being supportive although their anxiety is something to take on, and my coworkers are all doing what they can…there is just so much to THINK about. It’s the emotional toll that’s getting to me. Positivity feels ignorant.
I'm not opposed to the free market. But if there's a sub shortage, a teacher shortage, a bus driver shortage, and a special education aide shortage? That's a supply and demand issue pointing straight to the need for higher wages and better treatment.
@MagisterBracey Just had this conversation with some of my colleagues yesterday. I’m more organized and on top of things this year than ever before, yet I’m more behind on paperwork and more stressed and exhausted than I’ve ever been in 14 years of teaching!
@TeachMrReed Just wait until the kid falls asleep on your arm/shoulder in a few years...mastering the move of removing your arm without waking the kid is something you can put on your resume!
It's unhelpful to tell a student you should have learned this last year. Or, you should already know this. Let's meet kids where they are, not where they should be.
@gameofkittens Wisco... I live in Wisconsin and every time I hear someone shorten the name of the state my blood boils...No one says “Tex” or “Wash” or “New” or “Minne” or “Flori” or “Wyom”!!! Darn youth...knock it off!! And get off my lawn too!!
