Spurs guard Dylan Harper on Manu Ginobili’s influence and mindset coming off the bench: “I sat down with him and talked to him. Obviously, I'm playing in a role I'm not used to, but he put it in my head that you have to impact the game any way you can.”
Athlete: Coach… I think I want to quit.
Coach: Okay. Then let’s talk about why.
Athlete: I’m tired. All the early mornings, the pain, the pressure. Sometimes I wake up and wonder what I’m even doing this for.
Coach: That’s not quitting. That’s being human. Doubt shows up when you’re close to something that matters.
Athlete: But I’m not even sure I’m good enough. I look around and see people stronger, faster… happier.
Coach: Comparison is a liar. It shows you everyone’s surface but hides their struggle. You don’t need to be better than them. You need to be better than yesterday.
Athlete: What if I never win? What if I give everything and still fall short?
Coach: Then you’ll walk away with something most never touch—truth. The kind you only find when you’ve emptied yourself for something bigger than comfort.
Athlete: So… you think I should keep going?
Coach: I think you already know the answer. You wouldn’t be having this conversation if you truly wanted to stop. You just want someone to remind you that it’s worth it.
Athlete: It hurts, Coach. Some days, it really hurts.
Coach: Good. That means you care. And nothing worth having comes without pain. Now breathe. You’ve made it through every hard day so far.
Most quit before the breakthrough!
Don’t be like most!
@Drewtamu Unwritten reason the Aggies are good is b/c the kids who aren’t playing are buying in. It’s tough to sit on the sidelines, but to find a way to still contribute, playing a role to the benefit of all? 👍 Aggie coaches are putting on a master class on culture development
I’m self reporting.
This is my biggest pet peeve. Athletes stand in line waiting for their rep in a drill.
Sometimes you gotta coach the coach.
This was our D Line drill yesterday. Too much standing around. The answer?
Multiple drills at one time. Even if you just have one coach at the position.
Split the guys up. Even if half are working speed ladder while the other half work the sled.
Every rep matters!

@Drewtamu Wondering if you know when they test out - is it during fall camp or just prior to? Do we know how everyone did (not just in putting on weight)?

Basketball social media tells you that you need to SCORE to get attn, you need to SCORE to bring value
Players
I get it. It’s confusing.
If you give great effort on defense and get crossed up or dunked on because you tried to take a charge as a helpside defender….you are one moment away from being on the wrong end of a VIRAL moment, so it’s EASIER to not really try, to not give that effort bc it’s safer

Players,
you are more than a BUCKET
YOU can IMPACT the game by
✅being a great teammate. Saying an encouraging word to a teammate who is struggling may lead to them hitting next 2 3s…that’s worth 6 pts
✅ playing great helpside Def…closing off a driving lane 5 times that could have led to 10pts
✅making the extra pass
✅diving on the floor winning the 50/50 ball
