I asked Dan Hurley the same question I asked Tom Izzo: why does the media have a problem with coaches coaching players hard?
Hurley: "Society has gotten soft in a lot of ways... The real world is tough and cruel... I'm preparing my players for life."
Everybody wants discipline… until discipline gets loud. Everybody wants toughness… until toughness gets uncomfortable.
Hard coaching isn’t abuse. Hard coaching is correction. Hard coaching is standards. Hard coaching is loving a kid enough not to let him stay average.
If a coach is demanding effort, detail, toughness, and accountability bothers you… that probably says more about today’s culture than it does the coach.
There’s a guy in my neighborhood who washes his car every single evening at 6 :00 PM sharp. It doesn't matter if it rained or if the car is already clean—he is always out there with his bucket and sponge.
I used to wonder why he was so obsessed with a clean car, so yesterday I finally asked him.
He just laughed and told me, "The car isn't even dirty. I’m just here because this is the only 30 minutes of the day where nobody in my house is asking me for something."
I realized then that the bucket of soapy water is actually his peace , a "Do Not Disturb" sign.
Rick Pitino was asked what stops people from being great. His answer was one word.
"Ego stops greatness. I call it edging greatness out."
"In a spiritual sense, ego is edging God out. But ego is edging greatness out."
And he made a key distinction:
"I'm not talking about confidence. You have to be a confident person."
"But ego really gets you to where you think you've arrived. You think you know it all. You stop learning. You stop listening."
That's the trap. Confidence keeps you hungry. Ego convinces you that you've already made it.
You lose your hunger and humility.
"Learning and listening are important for great leaders. Great leaders have to listen and they have to continue to learn and surround themselves with people that are better than them."
EGO = Edging Greatness Out
The moment you think you've arrived is the moment you stop growing.
Stay confident. Stay humble. Never stop learning.

Michael B. Jordan was just spotted at In-N-Out Burger showing love to workers and fans while holding his Oscar after winning Best Actor in a Leading Role for “Sinners” at the 98th Academy Awards.
This man right here is Jimmy Finch from Clarksville, Tennessee. When he heard about the terrible tornado that hit Mayfield, Kentucky, he didn’t wait around. He got in his truck, drove two hours with his personal BBQ grill, and brought as much food as he could—hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, soy patties, eggs, bread, and more.
He set up right in the middle of the destroyed town and started doing what needed to be done: cooking food for people who had lost everything.
He didn’t ask what side of politics someone was on. He didn’t ask if they had been vaccinated. He just fed people who needed help.
Jimmy isn’t a rich man. Take a look at his truck—nothing fancy. If you look closely, you’ll even see a small magnetic sign on the side. It doesn’t say BBQ or restaurant. It says “Lawn Care.” That’s what he does for a living. Not a millionaire’s job—but clearly, this man has a heart of gold.
And he didn’t just come once. He went back the next day to feed even more people.
There’s more about him if you search his name. Hopefully a few real millionaires will notice what this everyday guy has done—and be inspired to help too.
Sam Stepan eclipsed the 1000 point mark and we got to celebrate his achievement last night!!!

A 26-year-old student sent a message to his teacher to explain that he will be absent from the class because he has not found anyone to take care of his five-month-old daughter...
Nathan Alexander, 34, a math professor at Morehouse College (Atlanta) responded to his student by saying:
"If that's the problem, take her to class."
Upon arriving in the classroom, the teacher offered to take the child so that his student could devote himself entirely to the course.
The teacher held the child throughout the lesson and even after, when he answered the students questions.
This photo is of the teacher who not only teaches math but also exemplifies compassion, kindness and generosity towards others.

In 40 years, it had never rained during the Super Bowl. On the day of 41st the heavens opened up and poured down hard.
Because everything on the stage were live instruments and the stage floor was slick with water for he and his dancers, they asked Prince what did he want to do about the performance.
Prince replied, “can you make it rain harder?”
Long live Prince. The greatest halftime performance in Super Bowl history.
I run every day for 20 minutes & if I miss a day, I add 20 minutes to the next day. This has truly been a game changer. Tomorrow, I'm supposed to run for 4 months.
Barry Sanders’ ratings in Madden were such a joke it allowed him to do crazy shit like this that ruined the realism of the game - hang on, being told this is actual NFL game tape.
Snoop Dogg reminds us that true greatness is forged in resilience rising stronger from the very moments when life tried to knock you down, but you refused to stay broken.
