We’ve received repeated DMs from our followers about BMTC buses skipping designated bus stops on the ORR, including Bhadrappa Layout, Veerannapalya & Nagawara, may be further.

Instead of entering the designated bus stop, buses are dropping passengers near or on the flyover, forcing commuters—especially children, women and senior citizens—to walk 200–300 metres to reach the actual bus stop. The people are endlessly waiting for buses in this area and they have to head to flyover

When we questioned the conductor, we were told that buses don’t enter the bus bay because of traffic congestion and that “all buses stop here anyway, passengers can walk or come here to board.”

But is that acceptable? If commuters pay to alight at a designated bus stop, why should they be dropped elsewhere and made to walk?

This doesn’t appear to be an isolated incident. We’ve received similar complaints from several parts of Bengaluru. BMTC has previously said checking squads would monitor such violations, yet commuters say the practice continues. As of nothing has been checked or flagged.

Are flyovers now designated bus stops?

@BMTC_BENGALURU, could this be investigated and appropriate action taken against buses that skip designated stops?

@blrcitytraffic, could enforcement also be stepped up where buses stop at undesignated locations? This is deadly for passengers and other drivers

Transport Minister @byrathi_suresh, we request you to kindly have this looked into. An unannounced visit during peak hours may provide a clearer picture of the challenges commuters face every day.
