@BBCWorld The National Department of Education does not handle local independent school districts or the curriculum. Each state controls their own state-wide curriculum. the national doe handles higher education funding, special education, and title 5/title 9 issues, not state education.

@rahiemshabazz Juneteenth (June 19th) commemorates the day the slaves in Texas found out about the Emancipation Proclamation in Galveston, TX June 19, 1865. 2 years after the original declaration in 1863. Texans remembered the day each year after. State holiday in 1980, national day 2023.
@DannyDGlover Democrats don't have enough of a majority to put in procedures to preempt the R's from filibuster. If/ when the Democrats have a strong enough majority to prevent the R's from meaningful legislation, then there's an issue of Democrats just using the people. Not the case currently
@colorfullstory congress is the power and so many just don't care. The state level is also very important. Voting matters which is why the R's don't want everyone, especially Black people, to vote. Stop playing people, this country is going backwards. Freedom we think we have is at stake.
