@PixelBibleBytes@PlsEndMe666 You made a claim that Catholic doctrine is denied by the bible. I would read the catechism, note how often scripture is used for the context for our beliefs.
If there are any beliefs you find troubling between the bible and catholic teaching id be happy to help you out :)
@MelvinGeor86858@Mattman34 In all charity I do not see how this question is inappropriate in apologetics. Especially as many churches/denominations begin promoting or allowing disordered sex.
Would it be possible trent is not a pervert and is instead addressing an issue prevalent in our times?
@Mattman34@GryphiusEitel True. I raised my point as a question because we are called to give an answer.
I remind all that needgod has yet to answer trents question.
@MelvinGeor86858@Mattman34 Inappropriate in what regard? Do not forget the many souls that are at stake.
If there is a sin so evil we should not even speak of it should we also condemn the sin itself from christian practice?
@MDHensley5@Verita_dirigit1 I think thats a common mistake when we read the bible as if it was written to us today. But the bible was written to the people of the time.
Since the beginning of Christianity they did not believe in that prophecy, and you can read the early church lacked that belief
@MDHensley5@Verita_dirigit1 If we (the church) are the chosen people of God through faith, not of flesh. We are Israel.
Those who denied Christ and were cut off from the tree of Israel (many Israelites who did not believe) were again bound back to it in repentance. That prophesy was fulfilled already.
@MDHensley5@Verita_dirigit1 No there can be only one chosen people. As there is one body of Christ.
Where does it say that a state of Israel will be Gods chosen people? I dont think ive read that before
@MDHensley5@Verita_dirigit1 Im not sure I follow. Who is this unbelieving israel?
If you’re speaking on those listed in Romans 11 Paul is speaking of Jewish people of that time. Who later became Christians. They had faith, were hardened, then returned once the name of Jesus was spread to the gentiles.
@MDHensley5@Verita_dirigit1 You are correct that the Church doesnt replace Israel.
The church is that same Israel.
Remember what Paul wrote about the tree of life. We are grafted into it with those given the first covenant. There is no new Israel.
There can only be one Israel correct?
@MDHensley5@Verita_dirigit1 Now, be aware. We are descended from Abraham. Therefore please know you are one of Gods chosen people. The church is Christ’s body, and also the fulfillment of the covenant to bring jew and gentile into Israel.
The only Israel that exists is the church.
@MDHensley5@Verita_dirigit1 Correct. So there is a clear distinction between those chosen to be children of God. Being from Abraham is not enough.
This explains how Paul can affirm gentiles are grafted into the tree that is Israel. Though not from his seed, nevertheless descendants of Abraham. faith>flesh
@MDHensley5@Verita_dirigit1 I think I follow what you are saying. However its not just through which Jesus came.
There are the Children of the promise and the Children of the flesh as is stated in Romans 9. Only one of which is counted as the Children of God (Israel).
Correct?
