I honestly think people are beginning to forget fandom etiquette because why am i seeing people publicly hate on fanfics and fanart that are being contributed to the fandom for FREE mind you. Like what happened to the don’t like it don’t interact??
ursula le guin was cooking when she described rowling as “stylistically ordinary, imaginatively derivative and ethically rather mean-spirited” and ever since i read those words i haven’t been able to stop using them to describe so many other things
even if you don't believe in prison abolition, the question must be asked, what purpose do they serve? if it is to rehabilitate, they've proven remarkably bad at their jobs. if it is to punish, they still do a pretty lousy job at that.
and this whole discussion of whether fic is good literature or not is sooo tedious!! its so tedious!! fanfic is its own type of literature with its own standards and styles and i don't go into it with the same genre expectations as i go into a book!
