An article by Shirley Clarke, who has supported many practitioners in the art and strategies of Assessment for Learning. NZ schools if you are wanting to strengthen AFL I highly recommend PLD with @EvaluationAssoc and also reading Clarity in the Classroom by @michaelabsolum
Great article! Considering Assessment for Learning is a Ministry of Education priority here in NZ, all teachers should read this. Very common statement “I’ve done AfL” (formative assessment). Rather than it’s now embedded in my practice.
@Dfromthemount Can I just say @Dfromthemount how awesome it is to read your tweets. Educationally sound and though provoking. Keep doing the great work at the Mount!
@HoDandHeart @TutoringNe Thinking and blessing you from New Zealand. Tough going in education while we navigate the weird and wonderful times we are currently in.
A great reminder for all educators - learning intentions and success criteria are so important for learners. It’s not just about sharing or co constructing them,it’s about learners knowing how to use them and how that increases learner agency&motivation. https://t.co/XbUOH9uYUQ
A key message from Michael Absolum, Evaluation Associates Company Director, on the power of learning-focused relationships and collaboration in assessment for learning #assessmentforlearning#EA_PLD
So true and simply said! Another couple of reasons ... enjoyment, engagement with texts, building relationships and modelling how you as a teacher love to read to, with and by too!

@Marberchamb Really recommend the book called Zones of Self Regulation which looks at the size of the problem as well as how to monitor your emotions and use strategies to self regulate. Going back to our physical schools these strategies will be helpful going forward.
A while back I created a series of primary level Writing Prompt Books for iPad. Another resource for your remote learning basket perhaps? Would be great for parents to use at home. Choose a prompt a day to write about perhaps? All free to download.
