@Sflecce You do know that it's only the kids who stay home on a PA day, right? Educators will be showing up to work the same as always. Please stop creating problems where none exist.
I have a diagnosis! I am #ActuallyAutistic but now I don't quite know what to do with that. Any Autistic teachers out there? How do you manage? Do you have accommodations at work and if so, what are they?
@mud_and_stars Do you think the ocd is part of the Autistic experience? I suffer as well and I often wonder if it's because of autism or in addition to the autism. At any rate, scary shit. You aren't alone. โค๏ธ
@MarcusLuther6 I like to give my students work time to avoid them getting behind but I find that the ones who need time most are the ones who waste it. Not sure how to strike a good balance.
@Teachers__Unite There are many reasons students can't attend school, many of them to do with the institution and not the child. I recommend looking at some of the work of @naomicfisher for a look into school "refusers" and school-related trauma.
@LarryOrei@Teachers__Unite I think it has more to do with us not wanting to kill ourselves to get to school. If it's dangerous for busses, it's dangerous for all drivers.
As an Autistic ADHDer, I feel capable of doing most things the average person can do. The trouble is that many things take an atypically *huge* toll on me - a toll I canโt always afford to pay. Iโm often more easily drained, overwhelmed, confused and otherwise affected by things.
โโฆjust because some educators are able to accomplish heroic things amid adversity doesnโt mean we should allow the adversity to keep getting worse.โ https://t.co/zx7x1PPtX1
