I’m excited to announce I’m launching a consulting company. Check us out to see how we can turn generational challenges into leadership wins for your organization. https://t.co/oSGAQYAV3x
We're Rebecca Burtram and Adam Howard, educators turned workplace consultants. We launched AscendED because we saw how gaps in the school system are showing up in today's workforce, and we're here to help leaders turn those generational challenges into leadership wins.
How to retain your Gen Z workforce? You need to be able to rely on a system of accountability that coaches and does not punish.

A teacher I know at another school used my poem “I Remember Looking Down” for a visualization lesson and this is honestly a top HIGHLIGHT of my career. It’s one thing to impact your own school you work in. But impacting one you don’t even work in?! Next level! #teachertwitter
Absolutely GUTTED the staff versus student kickball game was cancelled due to muddy fields. We need this rescheduled ASAP. Students need these outlets and experiencing teachers in positive aspects outside of the classroom! #teachertwitter
Tomorrow a board of ed council member and the daughter of who my school is named after are coming to visit 😮. I wonder if they’ll come visit the alternative program and see the progress my students have made in just two weeks! :)
@DennisDill I went middle school this year and I teach the alt program for students experiencing motivational needs (skipping class, under 2.0 GPA etc) and I absolutely love it so far!
Ill never forget those. I jumped a small set of stairs on a bike in middle school and landed on one pedal and not the other so one pedal spun around way too fast and cut my ankle quite badly. Over two decades later I still have this scar!
I was walking with one of the 7th grade students and almost every student we passed in the hall said hi to me. The 7th grader said “yo Mr. Howard kids really love you in this school I can tell”. And that made my whole day, week, year etc. :) #teachertwitter#edutwitter
@AndiPKeaton This is awesome! I had a community college intern when I taught ES and I had the students in the class sign a plastic bucket for her. Just something little but personalized and she lit up when the students gave it to her. You can put teacher things in there like flair pens.
First week done and I know it’s early but I feel M.S. was the right move for me over E.S. I see so many more students in a day and my position has me working with 6th, 7th and 8th graders going through it. The same way we all did in middle school! Haha #teachertwitter
A former student coming to visit is one of the greatest feelings ever. I taught her in 5th grade and now she’s a freshman doing big things! I showed her the photo I have of her elementary class hanging in my office and she caught me up on my old students! #teachertwitter
