Howdy!! My name is Jason, and I’m a history education major! I’m excited for this challenge and getting connected with a wider education community! Ideally, I’ll have something smart to say at least 45% of the time. •3• #EDUC331#pstpln
A3: Bringing in the community can help connect students to both their worlds and the lesson itself. With history, being able to connect it back to the communities students live in can really help. For example, teaching the history of those communities! #CultureEd
A2: I think scavenger hunt activities can be changed for every age. They’re great for being able to look around and examine your environment. One of my professors had us do one this semester, and even college students get really into it. Plus, team work! #CultureEd
A1: Hi #CultureEd!! My name’s Jason (they/them)! I’m currently in school to be a social studies teacher, so I’m excited to be involved in a discussion!!
Celebrating teaching can be hard sometimes these days, but I remind myself how important our impacts in the classroom can be. Students deserve to have teachers who care about them and are passionate about seeing them succeed. #educ331#pstpln#CelebrateMonday
Final follow recommendation! @WeAreTeachers is an amazing community of educators and resources! They discuss teaching and classrooms and bring together educators all across the country! #educ331#pstpln#FF
@HelpATeacher is a wonderful account, if you need an organization dedicated to helping and support teachers in the classroom! They offer advice and resources for classrooms that could really come in handy. #educ331#pstpln#FF
@ShaelynDay Do you think, from what you've seen in your experience, that there has been any push to improve these programs? Make them more complete outside of thin veneers to dissuade potential disagreements?
@ScholasticTeach is a great account to follow! They give some great recommendations and tools for teachers that could be really valuable!! #educ331#pstpln
If you’re in history education, I would absolutely recommend @SHEG_Stanford! They offer lessons and activities regarding history, and have great resources!! #educ331#pstpln
I found this article that discusses the trends of excused absences and how that correlates to students of color. It’s a super interesting read, and a really important topic. https://t.co/cfKFWQ8shR #educ331#pstpln
@ShaelynDay I think it sometimes makes the line between students and teachers harder to define. We have to be aware that we can’t give out our personal accounts to students, even if it seems fine. It’s harder to keep that line clear. #educ331#pstpln
@KenzEDCU331 I got some advice from a professor last summer: Give your kids the same understanding and empathy you’d give anyone else. Yes, grades and assignments are important, but it’s not up to us to decide what is an important enough problem to effect them. #pstpln#educ331
@littlemer2021 Okay, this is technically untested, but D&D is a great way to teach math! The use of a variety of kinds of die, adding up with modifiers and creativity, can offer a really fun way to teach math! Definitely doesn’t have to be a huge thing, but maybe fun! #pstpln#educ331
This is a heavy question, I know, but an important discussion: How do we deal with the threat now found in schools, while also fighting for our students? Being a teacher can be a scary thing, but it’s not less needed. Is there a way to come to terms with that? #educ331#pstpln
BREAKING: Two faculty members of East High School in Denver have been shot by a student moments ago. Here are some additional details regarding yet another gun tragedy in an American school:
- Two faculty members shot and airlifted to hospital.

When is enough enough?
STOP this American problem!
