@Herder_of_Yaks I'd say it improved for a short period before 2020. Way back in the 80s/90s it was pretty sketch, basically abandoned. Then they built the bike trail, the condos, a few nice restaurants but it's been downhill ever since.

@Herder_of_Yaks When they built those condos that area was not high crime at all (years ago). It was actually pretty quiet. The crime in Richmond got way worse after the 2020 riots. Cops quit, there's catch & release, homeless camps. Shockoe Bottom is basically a no-go zone, businesses fleeing.

@ANiermeyer7272 Oh yeah, I forgot about that! Dude jumped in the river and couldn't swim. The problem in that area is that there is a massive homeless encampment by the river there and the park next to it that is a free for all at night w/ parties/mayhem that ends in violence. City does nothing.
