@markgoldbridge For many years when people comment how negative this guy is I always thought they were wrong but these past couple of weeks it’s like we are watching two different teams…so negative it is so weird
This isn't a thread about the genocide in Gaza.
It's a thread about a likely genocide somewhere else: Ethiopia. But please don't scroll on and ignore it. This story deserves amplification.
.@StateDept reported that both #Russia & #Ethiopia have illegally acquired drones from #Iran. While the US rightfully pledged to hold Russia accountable, a similar commitment must be made to bring Ethiopia to account as we work to end the #Tigray conflict.

There is no other situation 🌍 in which 6 million people have been kept under siege for almost 2 years like in #Tigray, Ethiopia. This is a health crisis. I urge the intl. community to give this crisis the attention it deserves. There is a narrow window now to prevent genocide.
You might have heard about the sickening violence in Tigray, a region in northern Ethiopia. It’s important for us all to understand what’s going on in these spaces. Here’s a bit of an explainer:
It has been 9 months since my wife spoke to her mother in Tigray (a short @ICRC facilitated phone call). I know people who haven't talked to their family since Nov 2020 (a full 19 months!).

Successive Governments in #Ethiopia have for generations tried to avoid internalization of conflicts in #Africa. Little wonder them many Africans took Ethiopia’s #panAfricanist credentials for granted. #abiy’s Ethiopia has however achieved the rather incredible feat of rendering
Except two friends, all my close families & friends are arrested in A.A, #Ethiopia. We don't know where they are arrested. Most them are taken from their workplace. They have nothing to do with the war. They are arrested for being #Tigray|ans.

Tigray defends itself. No one has done anything for Tigray. Neither the West nor the East.
As a matter of fact, some western and other powers have joined the genocidal war on Tigray- deploying their technology or through third parties supporting the regimes in Addis and Asmara.
