BREAKING: The Federal Government has approved ₦70,000 monthly transport support for public workers for six months. The money is meant to help workers cope with rising transport costs and the high cost of living.
BREAKING: President Tinubu has approved a N70,000 monthly transport support for public service workers across all levels for six months, beginning in November 2026, to cushion the impact of rising living costs.
The approval was one of the resolutions reached at a conciliation meeting between the Federal Government, led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, and the leadership of the NLC in Abuja on Tuesday, following renewed pressure from organised labour over the cost of living, workers' welfare and outstanding agreements.
The government also approved the payment of peculiar allowance arrears, effective from May 1, 2026, in three equal monthly instalments beginning in November.
The Federal Government also agreed with the NLC that the Minimum Wage Negotiation Committee would be constituted and commence meetings immediately to get an effective date for implementing a new national minimum wage.
Today's meeting followed an earlier conciliation session held on October 22, 2026, convened by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment to address disagreements between the government and organised labour.
On Friday, 30th of October, I will present my manifesto for Lagos, outlining my vision and priorities for the years ahead.
My focus is to sustain our progress, address areas that need more attention and create opportunities for every Lagosian to thrive.
The future of Lagos must put people first and our plans must reflect their hopes, concerns and everyday realities.
From completing and connecting our rail lines, improving road and water transportation and expanding access to affordable housing, to strengthening security and upgrading healthcare across our 57 LGAs and LCDAs, we must keep making life better. Every community deserves safe roads, reliable public services and opportunities to prosper.
Education, skills development and job creation will remain central to our vision. We must equip young people with the knowledge, technology and practical skills to succeed, support entrepreneurs and small businesses and ensure that talent translates into opportunity, regardless of background, gender, religion or place of origin.
We must also protect our environment through better waste management, flood prevention, improved drainage and the protection of our coastal communities. We will continue to promote responsible governance, support traders and businesses and manage public resources to deliver real value.
Progress is not just about how far we have come but how many lives we improve along the way. Building on the foundation laid by successive administrations, we must protect what works, improve what needs attention and embrace ideas that meet Lagos’ changing needs.
My commitment is to a Lagos that is safer, more accessible, prosperous and inclusive. A Lagos where opportunity reaches every community and every resident has a stake in our shared future.
Together, we will build on our progress and move Lagos forward with purpose, accountability and the people at the centre of every decision.
That is my PROMISE.
VDM claims to fighting against bad governance and is striving to help the masses thru activism, but he's now selling power station that ranges from N185k to over N1.8m; So he's now also benefitting for the bαd governance, by using using our challeges to make money. Typical elite behavior.
I assure the president I’m back at home, here to help and ready to help. It’s my country and I love my country.
- former President of the African Development Bank Group, Adesina said after visiting President Tinubu.
