Today, I had the good fortune of offering prayers at Maa Jayanti Mandir in Meghalaya.
One of the 51 sacred Shakti Peeths, nestled amidst the Jaintia Hills, this temple stands as a powerful reminder of the deep and enduring roots of Sanatan Dharma in the North East.
It is believed that the Jaintias were among the earliest sadhaks of Maa Kamakhya.
The enduring civilizational bond between these two revered Shakti Peeths reflects a shared spiritual legacy that continues to connect Assam and Meghalaya.
My time in Assam taught me that the spirit of #Bihu is about more than just a change in calendar,it’s about the resilience and joy of the people.
On this Bihu, I miss the warmth of the Gamosas and the rhythmic beats of the Dhol. Wishing my brothers and sisters in Assam a prosperous Assamese New Year 1433. May this year bring peace and strength to every household. 🙏

Deepest condolences and shameful blot on the education city of Dehradun:
I am deeply saddened by the tragic circumstances in which 24-year-old Angel Chakma lost his life in Dehradun. He succumbed to injuries sustained a few days earlier after six young men first hurled racial slurs at him and his brother and then assaulted them. Two of the accused are reported to be locals. Angel was studying at a local college in the outskirts of Dehradun and as per media reports, the altercation began outside a shop where the abuse was directed at him and his brother.
Beyond the immeasurable loss suffered by his family and friends, this incident is a shameful blot on the so-called education city of Dehradun. Racial abuse has no place in any civilised society. It is the responsibility of our institutions and law-enforcement agencies to continuously build awareness and sensitivity on such issues and for the police to act quickly, firmly and decisively.
The wider local society must also play its part in creating an atmosphere of acceptance and inclusivity. This incident does not bode well for Uttarakhand, which has seen a worrying rise in crimes, particularly against minorities. My deepest condolences to Angel’s family and friends. I wish his younger brother Michael who was also injured a speedy physical and emotional recovery and hope the perpetrators are punished severely to set a clear example.
