The first batch of apps optimized for iPhone Duo will be available on Friday, October 23, 2026, on the App Store. Apple says more app updates will roll out throughout the year, so not every app will be optimized immediately.
Apple has announced a bunch of apps optimized for the iPhone Duo, including Instagram, Netflix, Prime Video, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Zoom, Slack, and more. These apps are bringing new experiences for multitasking, content creation, streaming, gaming, and productivity on the larger foldable display.
Apple says more app updates are rolling out throughout the year, with developers using the new iOS 27.1 SDK to optimize their apps for the inner and outer displays. New experiences include Split View, adaptive layouts, and apps that take advantage of different folding positions. More optimized apps are coming soon.
The clock transition from the lock screen to the home screen in ColorOS 17 is a Work of Art!
OPPO has absolutely outdone themselves. THIS is how it's done! The competition needs to catch up.
@techdroider It’s not optimised yet…
I understand you’re salty that you couldn’t get a unit on day one, but let’s just be unbiased for a minute.
App devs will optimise for the Duo way faster than any Android Foldable.
Apple literally mocked other foldables at its launch event, saying vertical scrolling feels compromised and watching movies means dealing with oversized black bars that make the screen much smaller.
Now look at Apple doing the same thing, and suddenly Apple fans and some influencers are defending it. LMAO. The hypocrisy is unreal.
The iPhone Duo’s compatibility with WeChat, the most widely used app in China, is an absolute disaster. This could seriously hurt its sales in the Chinese market.
The lengths some Apple influencers are going to defend this situation just to maintain their future relationship with Apple tells you everything about their honesty.
Brand relationships shouldn't matter more than telling facts to your audience.
Looks like some people are cancelling their iPhone Duo pre-orders due to the current app optimization issues and the crease appearing after just a few hundred folds.
The crease is inevitable, but Apple could have handled app optimization much better by automatically scaling apps to fit the screen.
Although the software will get better and the app optimization will eventually be near perfect..but it's a mess right now.
The BEST iPhone Duo review I've seen so far.
@MediaStorm_en put the iPhone Duo through 10,000 folds, then another 1,000 at -4°F. These guys don’t mess around.

Looks like Apple shipped half-baked software with the iPhone Duo. Most third-party apps and games still don't offer a proper full-screen experience.
Apple has provided developers with the SDKs and tools to optimize their apps, which is great. But this should have been handled more intelligently at the OS level, just like Android and Samsung do. They don't require every developer or game studio to update their apps just to fit a different screen. The system can automatically scale existing apps to use the available display area. Developers can optimize their UI later, but Apple should have ensured a better out-of-the-box experience from day one.
Apple is in PANIC MODE right now!!!
Developers have ported iOS 16 to Android devices like the Nothing Phone (3), Xiaomi Redmi Note 10, Redmi Note 12 and other similar devices. Guides are even being published on Github to help people do it.
Apple has kept iMessage, FaceTime and its entire ecosystem exclusive to the iPhone for years, making iOS one of its biggest reasons for customer loyalty.
I'm not buying the iPhone Duo if I can't get it on Day 1
I'm not buying it for personal use. I'm buying it to review, test it, and compare it with Samsung and Xiaomi Fold. Getting the device on Day 1 is crucial because that's when the views make it worth the investment. Even then, we often struggle to recover the full cost of the device.
Spending $3,000 on a phone only to receive it a month later makes absolutely no business sense. By then, the hype is gone, the views are down, and the investment simply isn't worth it.

Apple is cancelling iPhone Duo orders of genuine customers too, just because they ordered more than 2 iPhones in the past year. Apple thinks they’re scalpers, and now even some real customers are getting cancellation emails.
Some people are getting their iPhone Duo earlier than expected, while others are losing their orders completely.
Apple cancelled my iPhone 18 Pro Max order by mistake and had to offer me a goodwill gesture to make up for it. I hadn't even ordered 2 iPhones in the past year, yet my order was still cancelled.
