Inventories at 5-year lows with the Strait blocked. We feel this at the pump and on the farm within days. Getting the strait open is the whole game
Global onshore commercial oil inventories are declining rapidly + set to hit 5-year lows as trend accelerates!
Massive SPR releases + major drawdowns of floating storage and sanctioned barrels + strong product demand = structural bull market simply continues strengthening!
@HormuzReport Big planes, iron bombs carpeting them back to the stone age is probably the best solution. But only after an election so we can suffer some more.
@EricN_freund@HormuzReport Agreed, verification first. But for us the panic alone bites, my fuel and fertilizer costs move within days when that throat narrows. Traders don't wait for ship names
@iukhalil1@HormuzReport Whoever fires missiles at commercial shipping is taxing every household in East Africa. Mafuta, mbolea, freight - zote zinapanda. Sisi tunalipa๐ค
@HormuzReport Hormuz chokes, Dar pays. ๐
@hussmanjp Goodhart's law is the real enemy here. Hard-code an objective without questioning the frame and it gets gamed ๐ Deep looking is basically constraint modeling for objectives.
If that refinery is really down, fuel and fertilizer prices move again. Tanzania feels every one of these escalations within days.
Ubuyu ndio silaha kubwa zaidi ya dhuluma. Tuliona damu ikimwagika mbele ya macho yetu Oktoba 29, tena bado wengi wetu wanaamini hadithi rasmi ๐ข
Unfortunately, wamefanikiwa kwa sababu the whole thing ina element ya UBUYU, the nation's fav pastime ๐ข
@cobbo3 Capacity additions mean nothing without feedstock security and logistics. Refineries sit idle while crude gets exported.
That Zim Tycoon who died in a helikopita crash was busy
Zimbabwe ๐ฟ๐ผ - Gwanda Solar Project (US$172m): Controversy over allegations that millions in public funds were paid but the project failed to deliver electricity to the national grid.
Zimbabwe ๐ฟ๐ผ - Election materials (R1.1bn+): Controversy over allegations that more than R800m of Treasury payments flowed into Chivayo-linked accounts.
Namibia ๐ณ๐ฆ - Ballot printing (N$6.2m): Controversial tender that triggered protests and concerns about awarding an election contract to a Zimbabwean company facing scrutiny.
Zambia ๐ฟ๐ฒ- Ballot printing (US$14m): Election watchdogs raised transparency concerns. The contract was subsequently moved to a UAE company after Ren-Form reportedly failed to fulfil its obligations.
Malawi ๐ฒ๐ผ- Ballot printing: Controversy over Chivayo meeting President Lazarus Chakwera while his company was competing for election-related contracts, alongside his US$1m pledge to a First Lady-chaired charity.
Kenya ๐ฐ๐ช- JKIA expansion (US$2.9bn): Controversy centred on Chivayoโs company being part of the consortium and his reported close relationship with President William Ruto.
Tanzania ๐น๐ฟ- Hotels (~US$200m): The text identifies the hotel developments but does not specify a particular controversy surrounding the contracts.
South Africa ๐ฟ๐ฆ- Ren-Form: Financial-crime concerns involving alleged money flows connected to the Zimbabwe Treasury payments.
@AdiSurreyEnergy That spread isn't fundamentals, it's the market pricing Gulf supply disruption. Every dollar lands at the pump in Dar es Salaam within weeks ๐ค Vitol eating good though
@Macrobysunil Short end leading the reversal is the tell. Once cuts get priced in, real yields drop and metals run. Watching that 3-6 week window closely ๐
@Rory_Johnston Every week Hormuz stays tight, importers like Tanzania pay for it within days. Fuel at the pump, fertilizer for farmers. That flow recovery is the only good news in that chart
Agreed, red herring. What I want to know is how fast barrels can move without transiting Hormuz. That is what sets fuel and fertilizer prices for those of us importing ๐
Lots of questions about whether the G7 oil / diesel release includes barrels from March that were not released (and/or bought back).
It's a red herring: the important question is whether more barrels reach the market now (irrespective of whether some IEA countries cheated in March -- answer, yes, they did cheat; and yes, probably some would again, but still, some barrels will hit the market).
