There are 12 days till entries close on the 2020 @CBAA_ Community Radio Awards.
If you have some time left in the weekend, you might want to consider an entry in the Excellence in Technical Services or Excellence In Technical Innovation categories for your work in the sector.
That's a wrap for #TR20V
Thanks to our board members and the presenters, who spent countless hours organising all the material that everyone was able to enjoy. Most of all you!
We would love your feedback about the experience.
It won't take you long: https://t.co/j42xcSroqD
Our audience can tell, so that's why we need to have our source as clean as possible. That means uncompressed audio, which is achievable with today's data storage....it's cheap these days #TR20V
A lot of people are listening to radio programs online and in vehicles but not from terrestrial devices. This gives us a need to have as many programs available online as possible, which is where automatic workflows come in handy in the station #TR20V
#TR20V Aaron assures us that Audio Over IP can be a bit scary when you think of it, might even a challenge to initially configure...but the benefits far outweigh the negatives you may have. Especially because you are futureproofing.
#TR20V continues in the next 25 minutes after a short break with "Futureproofing, IT and Technical Innovations" with Aaron Alphonso.
The session will explore developments in IT Technology in the broadcast sector that could benefit your station.
Derrick provides everyone a few ideas of software tools on a tight budget that you can use to complete better electronic backups...because we don't all have a budget for complex systems! #TR20V
Our next #TR20V session starts soon with Terry "Setting up your playout system for FTP delivery & remote broadcasting"

Tim suggests some ways in which to capture records for keeping long term, keeping in mind that we do need to keep information for posterity and regulatory purposes #TR20V
After a short break for lunch, #TR20V continues at 1330 with "Back it up! Digital archiving and Station Administration".
Tim & Derrick will be discussing how to back up your historic data from obsolete IT for futureproofing. Also, how to implement great station admin systems.
Mathew points out that when you have transmission backups, even a low power backup is still quite useful...not many people are going to notice the change #TR20V
Mathew says low-cost class licenced (no fee) IP links can be used very well by stations well with a path which is less than 10km in distance to carry the program, setup can in some cases of course however be a bit fiddly depending upon your area #TR20V
#TR20V Mathew Magee believes IP in your transmission chain is good due to needing less special equipment (less expenses) and it's easier to explain requirements to external providers when you need them in your IP chains
