The president just ordered an investigation into law firms that break the law and federal rules to bring frivolous lawsuits.

"Lawyers and law firms that engage in actions that violate the laws of the United States or rules governing attorney conduct must be efficiently and effectively held accountable.  Accountability is especially important when misconduct by lawyers and law firms threatens our national security, homeland security, public safety, or election integrity."

Trump asked AG Bondi to "review conduct by attorneys or their law firms in litigation against the Federal Government" over the past eight years.

"I further direct the Attorney General to take all appropriate action to refer for disciplinary action any attorney whose conduct in Federal court or before any component of the Federal Government appears to violate professional conduct rules."

I’m working on a post - it’s more questions than answers but the below is the central crux of my free thinking time right now.

The Fed has no ability to do any reasonable form of yield curve control. It’s a matter of weeks/months before they lose the front end imo.

Bessent and Trump are completely right to focus on the long end. You can’t count on the Fed so they will have to do it themselves.

The question is how far they are willing to go.

Simplistically, the only way the markets give them cheaper financing is if they make big cuts - spending and regulation. But at the same time, the cuts need to be surgical.

70% of our GDP is still consumer driven so big spending projects that DONT touch consumers seems on target. But anything that touches consumers may need to be looked at more surgically because if prices rise into spending cuts and deregulation it could get very complicated.

The deportation picture gets murky in this scenario. As does tariffs. But unleashing energy and creating as many sources of competition for electrons is a no brainer.
