Geospatial backend-leaning developer | Upstate SC
Prefer remote, open to hybrid in Upstate SC or lower WNC.
20+ years in land development (heavy equipment → civil design → land survey CAD). Last 15 years focused on LiDAR, photogrammetry processing, and building the workflows that make CAD and GIS systems actually communicate between survey and civil engineering teams.
I want more code and systems work than pure drafting, but I can still handle map production when needed. Stack agnostic. Looking for geospatial or backend roles where the domain depth is useful.

The problem is the integration layer. Google makes integration with other apps and workflows simple. So if you want people to switch to other services like MEGA or @ProtonPrivacy or even @TutaPrivacy, they’re going to have to ingratiate with other apps in the same seamless way. They can’t just offer the same core services, it’s the integration that have people holding onto Google and Apple.

@ForrestPKnight Wouldn’t a better option be to open an IRA, put it in a trust and name the child beneficiary when they turn 25 years old? Same outcome, more maturity and you can change the trustee or beneficiary anytime.

@ForrestPKnight I agree 💯 on this. I hated the ChatGPT and Claude versions that were all emotional and junk. Like dude, you’re a computer, just compute and leave the touchy feely stuff to the humans.
