The TSQ Clubhouse has been a key part of the tech community here since its early days as The Garage. It has hosted coworking, startups, and events throughout the whole year.
As the tech square ecosystem has evolved, the Clubhouse has now shifted its focus to become a premier event space hosting Atlanta Tech Week programming, corporate events from companies like Aflac, startup meetups, research panels, and student showcases.

You’ve probably heard of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”, but how about “Reduce, Reuse, Refill, and Refuse”?
Veronica Apecena never expected to launch a retail business.
And now, Apecena is the owner of Joyful Jarra, a refillery providing non-toxic, low-waste, and a variety of locally sourced home and body products to Atlantans.
The turning point for Apecena came when she visited a North Carolina refillery where a friend with a developmental disability label was working. “She was so empowered and talking so positively about this new role. And within minutes of walking in the door of the refillery, I knew I needed to recreate this for communities in Atlanta,” said Apecena.

🌎Last week, The American Marketing Association's Atlanta chapter packed the @cfbhall for Celebrating the Global Games, and the conversation was bigger than a recap. It was about getting over Atlanta's "imposter syndrome" and celebrating the how impressively the city has moved forward in sports, entertainment, and tech!
⚽With @FIFAWorldCup 2026 (@FWC26Atlanta) coming here, the room was full of marketers, sports execs, and creatives talking about what Atlanta has quietly built — and why it's time to stop being modest about it. Soccer. Esports. Hip-hop. World-class brands. Local talent doing work that doesn't need to leave the city to be great.

“People who move around Atlanta outside of cars come face to face with extreme heat, but often lack shade or other infrastructure, such as bus shelters, that would reduce their exposure. And the burdens aren’t shared equally,” said Rebecca Serna, Executive Director of Propel ATL.
To understand where heat risk is highest, as temperatures can vary significantly based on nearby buildings and greenery, Georgia Tech researchers and community advocates are attaching temperature and air quality sensors to their backpacks and bikes, turning every step into data collection🚶
The NO-HEAT initiative, led by Dr. Rounaq Basu at the Georgia Tech School of City & Regional Planning, is mapping heat risk at the sidewalk level, providing city planners with actionable data and empowering people to find the coolest walking and biking routes as they move around the city 🌇
“Our goal is to be proactive, to provide cities and people with tools they can use to change how they move through cities in the heat. Why should we wait for heat strokes or other health-related incidents to happen?” said Basu.

📱Most people haven't considered that the smartphone in their pocket could be part of a clinical workflow. TSRB researcher Sixuan Wu (Uncommon Sense Lab, @gtcomputing, @georgiatech) is changing that.
🔬His project, µMobileScan, pairs a smartphone with a standard microscope to digitize blood cell analysis. The result is faster, more accurate red blood cell counts that can be stored, shared, and reviewed later.

🧠Last week, members of the Tech Square community gathered for a secret meeting of the minds. A new event series called Brains in the Bar convened to spark conversation about artificial intelligence. The question that both inspired the gathering and earned attendees their invitation: "Where would you choose a human over perfectly accurate AI?"

Do you live in a harmonious city? 🏙️
Seung Jae Lieu, a PhD student at Georgia Tech with the Center for Urban Resilience and Analytics (CURA) and the School of City and Regional Planning, is investigating why people still may not walk or bike to nearby amenities, even when they are close by.
“It’s not true that just because you’re close to somewhere, you will walk there,” said Lieu.
Lieu’s work explores how street completeness and the harmony of amenities shape our everyday travel choices, whether we walk 🚶, bike 🚲, or drive 🚗

What happens when an artist turns the algorithm against itself?
TSRB & @DmGatech researcher Hyunha Lim's practice does exactly that. Since 2021, she has been collecting daily screenshots of personalized Instagram ads and reconstructing them into handmade collages, printing algorithmic fragments onto fabric, then braiding, stitching, and assembling them by hand.
Her latest project, Re-Materializing Stone Mountain: Stitching the Automated Surface, extends this into new territory. Supported by the AIAI Network's seed grant program, the work examines how generative AI represents place — and what gets lost in the process.
When AI models generate images of Stone Mountain, they produce outputs that look coherent but strip away history, politics, and material context. Lim responds through intervention: printing AI-generated fragments onto silk satin and reconstructing them through cutting, stitching, and quilting.
Each stitch is a decision. Each seam is a record of human agency reasserting itself.
In a moment when generative tools are becoming deeply embedded in everyday life, her work raises an important question: how much do we give up when we outsource perception to automated systems?

🏠 In a conventional smart home, having intelligence often comes with a price. Cameras monitor movements, sensors need batteries, and smart devices are typically linked through disjointed systems that require ongoing upkeep. Yibo Fu, a @GeorgiaTech researcher at Tech Square (Uncommon Sense Lab, @gtcomputing, @ICatGT), is investigating a new approach where ordinary objects can discreetly indicate their usage via precisely crafted steel tags.
Together with his team, Fu has introduced SoundOff, an innovative smart home system that employs acoustics and ultrasonic signals inaudible to humans but detectable by microphones.
