HeyPolo just launched a driving score for families. It made me think about who a driving app is for.
HeyPolo is a family safety app from the Surfshark team. It rates each trip from 1 to 10 on speeding, phone use, braking, acceleration, and cornering. The driver chooses who in the family can see the score.
GradeMyDrive is my app, and it starts from a different seat in the car. It is for the driver. After you park, you get letter grades for Smooth, Speed, Phone, and Steady. There is no live dashboard and nobody watching. You just get honest feedback on the drive you just finished.
Privacy First, nothing shared to the Cloud.
It is in TestFlight beta now. Try it at https://t.co/zsrG0X8G5G
@launch_llama For a static landing page, all three are fine. The real difference shows up when traffic spikes and the bill arrives. Cloudflare's free tier is hard to beat there. Is Vercel winning on DX alone?
@tokifyi It's a joke that nobody in the cafe is running Cursor or agents. "Half of my best app ideas came from stepping away from the laptop. The agents can wait 20 minutes. The coffee can't." I made up the "best ideas" line, so change it if it isn't true for you.
@IndieGameJoe It's a pep talk for indie devs. "Needed this. My apps are still in TestFlight, and most of the progress comes from small, boring fixes. Those quiet nights add up more than launch day."
@codyschneider Background is the part I don't trust yet. A run that continues after I close the laptop can leave a half-applied change. How do you check a cloud agent before it writes into the repo?
@Angaisb_ The missing thread is the whole problem. A remote view that doesn't show the run already going on the other machine is just a second chat. Does Codex remote list the live thread, or only ones you start from there?
@Yuchenj_UW I still build my iOS apps in Cursor, so the IDE isn't optional for me yet. The agent can write the change, but I still have to see it compile. Are you reading the diff, or only the summary?
@uzairansar The Apple toolchain is the part that wears me out too. Cutting a TestFlight build of GradeMyDrive or RadioRetro means Xcode, App Store Connect, and another round of hoping the upload sticks.
@CoffeeBrewerX Refreshing App Store Connect does not make Waiting for Review move, but I do it anyway. GradeMyDrive and RadioRetro are both still TestFlight only, so that screen is basically my homepage.
@jdoliner Building is the cheap part now. Getting the first 100 people to install is the whole job. I keep my iOS apps in TestFlight with friends and family first, so I learn what to fix before I spend anything on launch.
@amanvarshney01 Congrats on getting it out. The first App Store release is the hardest one. What surprised you most in App Review? My apps are still in TestFlight and I am collecting tips before I submit.
@Voxyz_ai The tests-for-a-button-color one is real. On a pre-launch app there is nothing to stay compatible with yet. Does a rule like "match the change size to the ask" hold up, or does the agent drift back after a few turns?
@araseb_ The code is the easy part. A YouTube alternative is storage, transcoding, bandwidth bills, moderation, and getting creators to show up. Vibe coding gets you a player in a weekend. It does not get you an audience.
@Angaisb_ Same thing bugs me. When I steer mid-task I want one line back that says what changed in the plan. Without it I stop the run just to check, and that costs more time than the steer saved.
@hanghuang_ Mostly local, in a plain terminal and Cursor. I build my iOS apps solo and keep one agent per branch so each diff stays small enough to read before I merge. Running more in parallel just meant more time reviewing than shipping.
@gakonst@vex_0x Running Codex and Claude Code as subagents in one harness is the part I'd want a log for. When a build breaks I need to know which one wrote it. How are you telling their changes apart right now?
@Sauers_ I haven't hit this in Cursor, which is what I build with. If the lead agent's note to the subagent never shows, the diff is the only record left. Is the subagent's own reply still visible?
@rileybrown The hour is the easy part. Getting it onto someone else's phone is what takes me the night, and right now TestFlight is the only place my apps exist. Did Bluey make it onto a phone that isn't yours?
@jonathanzliu I don't have a cofounder, so that 50% was never on the table. The 30% hasn't hit me yet because nothing I ship is for sale. Are you splitting with someone now?
My TestFlight build ran in the sandbox, but the sandbox controls were not there.
AI gave me the fix, and Apple's StoreKit docs confirm it:
Install the beta from TestFlight with your normal Apple Account.
Open Settings, tap your name, tap Media & Purchases, then tap Sign Out.
Open Settings > Developer. You see it only when Developer Mode is on.
Scroll to the bottom. Under Sandbox Apple Account, tap Sign In. Use a sandbox tester you made in App Store Connect.
Now Settings > Developer > Sandbox Apple Account > Manage lets you change the renewal speed, clear purchase history and test interrupted purchases.
Make the sandbox tester with an email that is not already an Apple Account.
