The signings are mostly second rate, we're not making a profit, can't get FOS sponsors, Stadium situation won't change, firing/letting go of any manager who has a decent level of self respect and challenges nonsensical conditions, hiring unqualified folks cos they're your friends or will do as they're told.

Except there's some money laundering or they're just power hungry, there's no positive to doing the wrong thing. You have the keys to one of the most prestigious clubs in football and you're doing your best to ruin the club. That also ruins your reputation, no?

You berate Maresca for "club provided" or "club supportive" comments/decisions he made weeks into starting a new job he'd have only dreamed of - acknowledging most decisions weren't his. But state that Rosenior would also lose points if he does X and Y. I really don't understand what you expect these coaches to say or do?!

Isn't it sensible to not rock the boat at a new job until you think you have a leg to stand on? Even if it ended up backfiring?

Do you just hate his personality or something specific cos I don't understand. "Not my type of winger" isn't a good enough spin but "club decision" is also bad if Liam says that?
At this point, shouldn't you direct most of your hatred towards the club that's exploiting their desperation for the job and putting grown men into these positions?
You direct your anger at him for Josh being in the bomb squad when it was obvious it was to strongarm him into signing a new contract - which Maresca doesn't negotiate and is a common tactic used everywhere except if you need the player for results (you also sarcastically acknowledge this narrative).
Shouldn't Maresca get credit for saying enough is enough?

If LR was already getting frustrated with his players and started uncharacteristically lashing out, is he not going to face the same fate here if he also requires better players or a better attitude, to achieve the results befitting of the club and fans?

At the end of the day, all of them are no different. As long as it's not an elective surgery and a panel of doctors can confirm it's a viable cause of treatment, there should be no reason to deny treatment.
People's healths (and their ability to get care) should not be monetized.

Every gap in our team has been addressed. Sanchez (and the defense) over the last 6 months has been one of the best in Europe. Yes, Sanchez has his moments but that doesn't override how good he is outside of those one-off moments, especially when we have another top GK being developed. We can complain about Colwill's injury but I'd really like to see Josh get more minutes and develop.

If everyone is fit, Garnacho/Gittens might not even start if they don't produce but both have a very high ceiling.

I for one prefer under the radar signings that blow people's mind - like Palmer, JP, Estevao (so far). Looking forward to Maresca working his magic with the rest.

I guess all of a sudden, you don't believe in squad harmony. Delap is out for 6-8 weeks, with 2 international breaks in the next month. It's not like we also don't have a striker at the moment (JP). You are all worried about the worst case scenario, but what happens when they're all fit, we can't give them all minutes and they start complaining - like Veiga, Felix (and they were not A1 players)? What top striker could you possibly get that will be willing to happily sit on the bench? Where are the funds to sign said striker? What's the guarantee the striker wouldn't flop when you immediately need him to perform?

It's still possible they get someone in, but it is very clear that if a sale can't be agreed for Jackson, they can't bring anyone quality in and Jackson has to come back. Or at least, Guiu (a known entity who knows the system and is/was improving) is the best last option.

Let's not surround the club with this negativity. We had a good transfer window and one short term injury and the SDs doing something to address this new reality when they can, shouldn't change much.

I don't believe they're playing poker tbh, you can't go for Simons if Nkunku and Jackson are still on the books because if things don't work out, you'd need to reintegrate them in the team and you can't do that if there's literally no room for them - which would cause problems in the dressing room.

His point is valid though. Boundaries in innovation are usually broken by someone not knowing much about something having a "crazy idea", and someone with the expertise is forced to execute or get as close as possible to that idea. Elon has had crazy ideas with spacex, Tesla etc real experts laughed at him, but he hired the best people he could find, funded and pushed them to achieve those crazy ideas or get close.

With your architect analogy, why are the architects credited with the best buildings and not the builder? They come up with something so bizarre and set out to achieve it - even if it was previously considered unachievable. Along the line they innovate, discover new materials, technologies, test, iterate, to achieve that bizarre vision that then sets the tone for what is now possible.

If you have been working for so long in one area and know the limitations in that area, you think you know it all (what I've seen in the industry in my experience), and don't push further unless you're forced to - and that is usually by someone who doesn't know the same limitations.

I know. But that was always the plan (past the initial loan). They didn't want to lose Gallagher for free so they took the player they thought would have resale value - which has proven to be true cos how is he worth €50m after everything?
