@PennyMordaunt A very well-deserved honour. Congratulations and it seems inevitable that you will continue to work for the general good inside politics or not.
I welcome the Chancellor’s change of mind when it comes to the winter fuel payments. She got it wrong last year. I never understand the derision a “U turn” attracts. Get it wrong, change your mind, put it right. If this is as a result of opposition pressure that’s what it’s for.
It is with deep sadness we share the devastating news this morning that whilst dealing with a major incident at Bicester Motion yesterday evening, we are today mourning the loss of two fire fighters.
A member of the public also sadly died in the incident.
Two further firefighters sustained serious injuries and are currently in hospital.
Ten fire crews attended the incident at Bicester Motion having been called to the scene at 18:39. Four crews remain at the scene with the fire now under control.
My thoughts are with the families and friends at this difficult time.
As I travel across the country the message is the same: Labour is making everything worse.
Don’t gamble away your local council. Only the Conservatives deliver better services and lower taxes.
🗳 Vote Conservative on 1st May
@ted_fenton@RealismHelps Delighted to hear you’re standing, Ted. ‘Normal’ people absolutely need to get out and vote. Leaving it to someone else has allowed activists and their mates to ram council chambers.
@markchristie@RealismHelps That’s the problem Mark, I am standing again and I think many people think along similar lines to me, they just don’t get out and vote. It does make a difference.
Today, LibDem & Labour Cllrs voted on a budget that prioritises #Oxford over #Oxfordshire for the 4th year in a row.
@Conservatives proposed an amendment that would have cut waste & invested £6m extra in our roads.
Residents will now have their say at #LocalElections2025 🗳
Labour were in coalition with the LibDems for 2 years when #Oxford's costly, camera-controlled traffic schemes were contracted.
Now, they've done a u-turn and they're blissfully following @GroupOx-@OxonTories' policy!

Welcome to Common Sense! 🤷♂
Ever thought that the roads in North #Oxfordshire are worse than those in #Oxford?
@OxfordshireCC spends 62p on a road in #Cherwell for every £1 in Oxford.
Fairer highways funding is needed.
#Banbury & #Bicester have the poorest funded roads in the county.
That *must* change.
As a father I know all too well the impact of rare diseases. The steps we’re taking now means that soon, families like mine will have hope. The mission of the @OHRareDisease Centre to develop new treatments for rare diseases is hugely ambitious, but this is the right time, the right place and the right team to make it happen. I’m excited to be involved.
