Fitness tips I know approaching 50 that I wish I'd known when I was 20:

1. People underestimate how much fat they have to lose.
Hip arthritis isn't just a joint problem.
1,714 adults with hip arthritis:
Lost <2.5% BW → smallest improvement
Lost 5–10% BW → bigger improvement
Lost >10% BW → biggest improvement
The more weight they lost, the less pain they had.
Fat loss beats any joint supplement.
It's impossible not to get lean when you're veggiemaxxing.
300g broccoli
100g mushrooms
130g roasted potatoes
Most people try to lose fat by eating less food.
I lose fat by eating more food for fewer calories.
That's the big difference.
P.S. There’s one health metric almost every man over 40 is ignoring…
And it predicts energy, testosterone, heart health, and how fast you age.
It’s not a supplement.
It’s not a biohack.
It’s not what your doctor usually tests.
I put together a free Health Metrics Guide showing the exact labs and tests that actually matter.

Chest muscles are one of the most frequently trained muscle groups.
But most people don't know which exercises are best.
Here are 7 of the best exercises for the chest (backed by science):
Your body fat is literally stealing your testosterone.
A 2024 review found that losing fat can raise your testosterone by 20-30%. No injections. No prescriptions. Just addressing the actual root cause.
Fat cells contain an enzyme called aromatase. It converts testosterone into estrogen. The more fat you carry, the more testosterone you lose.
Lose the fat first. The hormones follow.
Comment ‘30’ and I'll send you my free 30-Day Fat Loss Guide, built specifically for high-performing men over 40. It's the exact framework I've used with CEOs and founders to drop 15-30 lbs without giving up their lifestyle, crashing their energy, or spending more than 2 hours a week in the gym.
@PGC1a_RB I've done this both on x and my podcast.
But no one reads them lol
That's the issue with social media in general. It's optimized for polarizing content or impressive results before/after results.
"I'm just not motivated."
Most people don't have a motivation problem.
They have a recovery problem.
Sleep 5 hours a night, drinking every weekend and stressed every day. And the 30 extra pounds of body fat are causing your brain to be inflamed.
No shit you're not motivated.
Your body is waving a white flag.

Most people think their results come from the hour they spend training.
They don't.
Results come from the other 23 hours.
Sleep.
Stress.
Nutrition.
Recovery.
Your workout is the stimulus.
But everything else determines whether your body changes or not.
@briandecoded Oh yeah. Was never trying to get him as a client because we're just too close
But you're absolutely right.
I helped plant the seed that there might be a better way.. Most importantly, he'll definitely be around longer as a result!
Had lunch today with a friend I've known for 10 years.
For most of that time, he'd argue with me about calories, fat loss and training - even though he's 62 and had a belly.
But today he told me something interesting.
"I finally hired that coach and got the best results I've had in a long time."
He had been talking to this female coach with a bodybuilding background.
She got him to dial in his calories and focus on progressive overload.
He says he's eating more than before and not working out any harder than he was.
Didn't say "I told you so." Didn't even want to.
I was genuinely happy for him.
And honestly, the first thing I noticed wasn't the weight loss.
It was the extra energy and the younger-looking haircut.
When people start feeling better, they start showing up differently.
Agreed.
We don't NEED a lot of things.
But I'll tell you this...
After doing this for 27 years, guys will creep back up in weight.
If they learn the RIGHT way to get to 10%, it gives them skills and a new standard that they will keep for the rest of their LIFE.
