A lot of dunking on this tweet (for good reason).
But the counter point is that we don't live in a society in which there is perfect competition. We live in one with the illusion of it.
We should all be worried about "dynamic pricing."
That's when companies change their prices in real time.
If it's hot out, the cost of ice cream could go up.
If it's cold, tea bags could go up.
It's a way for giant companies to squeeze you even more.
see normal people don’t understand that a 285 million dollar contract isn’t really that much because you have to pay taxes and also have to pay someone to play a gold harp as your personal chef prepares your dinner
@NateSilver538 I think its pretty much this
It just doesn't look as impressive because he has had a really solid O-line / RB threat for a good chunk of his career.
Not taking anything away from him -- it just doesn't look as impressive on screen when folks have lots of time.
I believe both of these are true:
The taxes (base of earners and amounts) should be SO much higher in a thriving capitalism.
The taxes currently collected are squandered at alarming rates (cronyism, industrial complex, fraud, waste, abuse).
@EvanZhao6 Always wild to me that people look at these charts and still want to hire low touch 409A providers. A few cents at the early stage, make for such massive differences in the late stages.
@the_P_God Couldn't agree more. Top to bottom with one exception: BCS computers with black box algo's.
Ironically, at the time it was the best for the viewers, it was the worst for the students.
Another round of dunking across twitter bros is likely to happen because of this tweet.
While i don't think grocery prices are a major concern (some cats are), the average consumer isn't being competed for in a true capitalistic sense as much as econ 101 tells us they are.
Hellmann's mayo
McCormick spices
Cholula hot sauce
Frank's RedHot
What do these products have in common? One company could soon control them all.
I have concerns that McCormick and Unilever's $45 billion merger could increase YOUR grocery prices.
@typesfast@reed what up neighbor!
Might not want to show origin of trip FYI.
Mapping with waymo is really odd during times of high foot traffic. I have been thinking that it might be trying to avoid schools at typical drop off times.
@AdamSinger Social media is a 'disease' in the hands of someone who doesn't have the ability to critically think with principles and nuance.
(this is a both sides problem)
