I'm starting a book writing project! I have ideas in my head about software design that I really need to get out. New post every Tues: https://t.co/OELA0WW6K5
@mdekstrand Have reviewers hassled you before about budget details?
Glanced at the NSF FAQ, it seems like the main "value add" here is that it evades institutional overhead / indirect costs?
That was a major problem for trying to use cloud before. I imagine this just equalizes things.
@porglezomp Interesting idea. Basically a tool to test whether an assumption is meaningful? "If it works without this, why is it here, did you mean something else or is it obsolete"?
10 months ago I started working on this project. Pretty excited about the future of Rust in general, and I think Kani is going to hit a sweet spot in making light-weight formal methods easy to adopt.
Book status: I haven't made progress since about mid-February. This long-weekend, I have plans to try to "project manage" myself a bit. To be honest, I'm not sure why I didn't think of this sooner.
I think Swift devs are onto something big: https://t.co/26ODZiS50T
"Just be more dynamic across module boundaries" is simple, and it seems like the downsides can be designed around.
They'll probably bump into all the mistakes, but the next language designed around this idea...
Hrvoje Zeba is working on a new database, tyrdb, using io_uring as the IO interface. It's really exciting to see new projects being built with io_uring from scratch! Doesn't hurt when the results look very promising either.
@mdekstrand The initial learning curve is near vertical, and it never really levels out.
I think they've got high hopes for CDK. And you might actually be the target market for Beanstalk...
Decided to see what would happen if I trained a neural net to write names for self-aware AIs.
May I present: GPT-2 trained on AI names from Iain M. Banks's Culture novels

Thinking out loud about what constitutes "extension," which to be honest is something I especially ought to be better able to articulate... https://t.co/8qX7r5Oftj
I have a new open position on my team. Senior Software Engineer with a machine learning/research focus. Work with us to research and develop the bleeding edge of *collaborative AI* for Wikipedia. https://t.co/xTFxzIXABd
