One post-final reminder: I am no longer posting here at X. You can find me on Bluesky at https://t.co/UylSJOjL07. Join me there.
And also join me by boycotting reading/watching anything to do with the T**mp inauguration from January 20-24.
So long!
Hello all. I intend this to be may last X/Twitter post. For reasons that I assume are obvious. I will miss the good times here. But so be it. I can now be found on BlueSky at https://t.co/UylSJOjL07. Hope to see you there!
Even after all these years, I still don’t understand the thinking of Trump supporters. Beyond the hardest of his hard-core, does anyone really believe it’s a good idea to have a president who believes immigrants eat cats…because he heard it on TV?
Ira Glass talking to Alexander Vindman about what Trump said re Zelensky phone call at a recent rally. How anyone can listen to this and still want to defend Trump? And why doesn’t this get more media coverage? https://t.co/o7b2m98iMZ
If you haven’t yet checked out the newly announced ChatGPT 4o — prepare to be blown away. Watch the videos shown here to get an idea: https://t.co/ZJ7DVHnqnE. If it reminds you of Scarlet Johansen in Her, that’s not an accident.
I’ve been on the fence about NYT news and analysis coverage for a while now. This piece from Esquire pushes me over the edge. It shows how NYT is normalizing Trump and covering up his delusional behavior. Disgusting. https://t.co/cYsLSrH3En
Bill Gates is so wealthy that he has donated more than $20 BILLION dollars to his charitable foundation. Donald Trump is so wealthy that he is hawking sneakers and bibles — so he can make a few extra bucks.

@aterkel@carman_copy It’s bad enough that 7 of the 9 voted to overturn. What’s more dismaying is that the 2 who did not do so seem doomed because of their vote. What is the GOP trying to say here? That they still believe Trump won in 2020 and anyone who says otherwise is toast? Geez.
@andreavhowe@NateSilver538 I agree. When I read it, the qualifier about “Palestinian officials say” seems to refer only to the number of people killed. That it was an Israeli strike seems accepted as given.
The GOP Implosion. Sometimes the political situation is so infuriating that I feel compelled to write something about it. Just to lower my blood pressure if nothing else. This is one of those times. #NeverTrump

U.S. News media is so “egocentric.” In all the coverage of the smoke from Canadian wildfires affecting U.S. cities, I almost never see any mention of how all of this is affecting Canada.
The excellent sc-fi novel, Daemon by Daniel Suarez (https://t.co/xcSwX3LsrA) imagines what a distant future version of Vision Pro could be like. It's both enthralling and scary (much like the current situation with AI in general).
Reading about the hands-on experiences with the Vision Pro, it seems more like a "proof-of-concept" than a finished product. But that's OK. At some point, Apple needed to get off the runway here. It succeeded. We're off. Let's see where we are when we're at cruising altitude.
Apple's last major product launch, the Watch, was an unobtrusive device designed to help you be you more active. The Vision Pro is a "in your face" product designed to have you be stationary. The opposite. We'll see how that goes.
My first take on VisionPro: Incredible technology & interface (if it works as shown). Amazing capabilities. Understandable price. Price & bulkiness are big concerns of course. But biggest minus is one shared by all such devices: it's a solo device. Can't share what you're seeing.
