@emptywheel I love following your analysis. Meaningful penalties exist in the contracts but recourse now looks very limited in this failure to deliver. The liable party is Gazprom rather than Russia. Gazprom walked away from its European assets (Gazprom Germania) earlier this year.

@pwnallthethings Very much appreciate your commentary. Oil indexation is no longer the norm in Europe. Nearly 100% of Gazprom’s European price formulas are now indexed to gas hub prices. This is why record-high spot gas prices have driven record profits for Gazprom despite lower export volumes.
