“Eyes on Ukraine” — #RichardGere documentary on young #Ukrainians with HIV fighting for their rights. Inspired by @ZelenskaUA , it highlights the importance of unity for human rights. On #HumanRightsDay, we remember our shared responsibility to protect rights, even in #war.
“The strongest crisis response comes from youth themselves. Empowering young professionals unlocks solutions that truly reach and resonate with adolescents in crisis.”
— Yevheniia Usychenko, Deputy Director at Teenergizer, at the ICHG Annual Conference 2025 @IntChildHealth
At #RC75 we reminded Member States: youth cannot wait!
Mental health, SRHR & safe digital spaces are rights, not privileges.
With @UNFPAEECARO we call: listen, invest & act with youth! 💛

Yana Panfilova is a true warrior and her courage inspires me every day.
Here’s what she told us in March 2022: "We have to push politicians to listen to young people and allow them to influence the decision-making process about their own health and future. The voices of young people, especially young women, should be heard to stop the war and rebuild Ukraine."
That is the kind of leadership we need to realise the promise of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Because today, despite some remarkable progress, we are failing children and young people — including in the HIV response.
#MentalHealthDay #DayOfTheGirl
On today's #WorldMentalHealthDay, I salute @YPanfilova. Yana is from Ukraine 🇺🇦 and was born with HIV. Today, she is 27. But when she was just 16 years old, she founded @Teenergizer, a programme for young people living with HIV across Eastern Europe and Central Asia to fight stigma, promote mental health, and advocate for sexual and reproductive rights. When war shattered her home, Yana fled Kyiv for Berlin. But she has stayed true to her mission, continuing to fight for the rights of young people.
#MentalHealthDay
A critical reprieve - grateful for the compassion and wisdom shown here - hopefully restarting the programs will be quick and painless. Thank you

"@UNAIDS is committed to strengthening Ukraine’s #HIV response & its role in #endingAIDS."
“Never again” the vow of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights signed 76 yrs ago at Palais de Chaillot after two world wars, the Holocaust & inhumanity. The world united to spark a human rights movement focused on what matters most - the human. Let’s nurture it. Let it thrive
All children and adolescents living with HIV have a right to access treatment and support.
By placing rights, dignity, care and empowerment at the center of the HIV response, the world can forge a path to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. #WorldAIDSDay2024

Yesterday, we joined the #WorldMentalHealthDay, led by First Lady @ZelenskaUA. We’re very grateful for the invitation @UNICEF_UA and @HowareuProgram. Access to mental health is a right, not a privilege. Together, we must ensure everyone has access to the support they need.
In #Kazakhstan, partners at a workshop on gender assessment results in #HIV response for @GlobalFund projects approved 4 key recommendations for women living with HIV, women from key populations & adolescent girls:
1⃣ Gender-oriented HIV services
2⃣ PMTCT social support
3⃣ Access to modern sexual & reproductive health services
4⃣ Lower age for parental consent for adolescent HIV care
Over four decades of collaborating on the HIV response has saved millions of lives.
We have come far, but the fight isn’t over. World leaders have recommitted to ensuring everyone has access to the care they need to #EndAIDS.
