I hope this isn’t inappropriate to share, but I’ve just been down at Valley Parade. As I walked to my car, I saw a man standing alone at the memorial - no one else around, just him, deep in thought, paying his respects to the 56 lives lost.

That man was Graham Alexander.

On this day 40 years ago, 56 Bradford City and Lincoln City supporters went to a football match and never came home.

We will never forget those who lost their lives in the Valley Parade Fire Disaster, and we stand with everyone who continues to be affected to this day.

Forever remembered and forever in our hearts. 🎗️

Jimmy Speirs. On this day in 1911 he was City’s Captain and goalscorer in the FA Cup final. He showed the cup to 100,000 fans when team returned to Bradford.
6 years later he was killed at the Battle of Passchndaele. #bcafc
