@SEMolekwa @SheldonMiller No, 2006 too. And they behaved very badly. They made a 'Gentleman's agreement' with Germany which they broke. Did not go down well with other European countries.
Eng given free reign for 96 Euros and they would leave 2006 free for Germany, was basically the agreement.

On the other hand when it becomes team specific and homes in on “what you can expect” it’s very dangerous and is likely to predispose officials decision making.

#England — Nine English Premier League clubs have been accused in a report by the NGO War on Want of complicity in Israel’s crimes in Palestine and Lebanon. According to the report, the clubs are being criticized because of sponsorship deals with companies directly involved in Israeli military operations. The clubs named are Arsenal, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham.

At least 15 companies sponsoring Premier League clubs are said to be linked to activities in Israel. In particular, 6 companies operating in the technology and surveillance sectors stand out: Canon, Cisco, Google/Alphabet, HPE, Oracle and Sony. Another 6 companies are accused of supporting Israel financially and through the energy sector: AXA, BP, Eurobank, Evelyn Partners, HSBC and Standard Chartered. The report also mentions the government of the United Arab Emirates, owner of Manchester City, because of its role as a strategic ally of Israel and its involvement in financing militias in Sudan.

War on Want also states that four Premier League clubs discriminated against fans and employees who expressed support for the Palestinian cause and violated their freedom of expression. The best-known example mentioned is Arsenal’s dismissal of long-time kit manager Mark Bonnick in December 2024 because of his social media posts. The report also includes similar cases involving Brighton, Burnley and Everton.
